For some reason, in that video, they got rid of all references to the Nabisco products in Mickey's Surprise Party, and censored out the part in Steamboat Willie where Mickey played on the mother pig's teats like an instrument.

Mickey has been so screwed over by Disney. I have the shorts in the tins, I'm good.

I have the complete Treasures line (even the Treasures collection of comic book stories), but there's a whole lot of room for improvement regarding the video quality. Some of those masters are from the 90's. I'd happily buy them all over again, the company just needs to give me a reason to.

It's a real shame how little Iger or anyone in the company nowadays cares about Disney's past. https://twitter.com/jessiemaltin/sta...24840866377728

It's not that Iger doesn't care -- he's still the CEO who approved the 4k preservation of the entire animated library. I think the truth is that they're sitting on all that content to use as carrots for other media, from apps to streaming, and promising a chronological release runs into issues with content in shorts that people would find objectionable in today's Daily Internet Outrage environ.

Seriously, I now live in a world where people would call something as benign as "The Ugly Duckling" Silly Symphony offensive and worthy of a Twitter hashtag virtue signalling campaign. Again, I don't think it's that Iger "doesn't care", more like using resources and content in a strategic way in a rapidly evolving landscape.

I've never really understood the PC argument regarding cartoons. These sets are for collectors, historians, students, and film fans who have at least some level of awareness of what they are purchasing. The average parent is not going to walk into Wal-Mart and spend $50 on a Walt Disney Treasures box set of black and white cartoons or a Blu-Ray of Tom & Jerry shorts. The DVDs that sell in this category are $5-10 and they exist just so parents can entertain their kids for a short duration at a low cost.

Steamboat Willie, The Band Concert, The Brave Little Tailor (I've seen the new master, you guys are in for a treat), some kind of 50's Mickey I don't recognize, then Mickey in a jumpsuit (Mousercise? Surely not), then the modern Spongebob Mickey.

You know, if I had to pick a year to re-issue Fantasia...

We're not talking Song of the South level stuff... Even Bosko got a few shorts on disc and he was admittedly a black caricature.

I like the idea of the cover but not the execution. Those sketches look really amateurish. I'm going to assume this is just a placeholder cover until they do another polish on it before release.

Definitely Mousercise which makes no sense since, as far as I know, Disney didn't do anything animated to that album, did they? And I think hell would freeze over before they include an episode of the Disney Channel show.

I guess Disco Mickey was ruled out. But no, there weren't any Mousercise shorts, but this seems to hint at some kind of "Mickey through the years" bonus feature.

Disney isn't Warner Bros. -- that's the downside of branding. It has its benefits in terms of marketing, but also limits you in ways.

I wouldn't read too much into each Mickey representing a short.. think it's more to show him throughout the years. Thats not to say, some of the ones shown wont be included though.

If they pad this out with a bunch of the recent internet shorts, I won't be happy. By the way, the 50s Mickey looks like a badly drawn version of Simple Things

That cover is garbage! I think the 90th Anniversary Logo blown up and slightly tweaked would have looked much better.

On the other hand, it might give us some clues as to which shorts will be part of this...
