Just watched it. It’s a slow burn, but awesome. Great acting by Lawrence.

Found a cool Da Ali G Show boxset with a lenticular cover for $3. And a DVD of Apocalypto with a slipcover for $1.

If libraries count as thrift scores (and they'll have to in my case, because my Goodwills stopped stocking non-VHS movies), I scored all of this for $1.25 in total.

Nice!

Word Wars is a fun doc. Great find on that Chaplin Criterion! (I have the BD, and love it!)

Is Word Wars the disc-only movie you found at DG once? I picked it up just because I remembered you raving about a movie that sounded like it.

Wish I had gotten a whole lot more, but I think the nice old lady there just assigned an arbitrary price. Usually movies at this library are a buck apiece (which is still a good deal).

Exactly! (How the heck do you remember that...and I didn't?!)

At the time, I remembered catching only about 30 minutes of it on cable once (IFC?) and I liked what I saw. So, for cheap at DG, I was very excited to grab it.

It was actually available to stream at one point (Prime, I think), but not anymore. Funny how that happens. ;p

Got this from the website:

VHS, but who cares about that. Only missing the last five. Some of these episodes are aren't on DVD, like the STAR WARS one.

Went to goodwill to donate stuff and decided to go for it after watching some youtube haul videos (retro gaming). My local goodwill must be on crack.
15$ seasons of Law & Order with water damaged boxes
20$ games (Fifa, NHL, NFL for PS3)
DVDs were mostly marked 6$
Blu-rays were 10-12$
CDs were reasonably marked as 1-3$
No retro gaming
5$ for AV cables. was hoping for Genesis & Saturn AV cable and controllers

Surprisingly no furniture aside for mattresses and rugs. Looking for a TV stand for a 27" CRT and old consoles

I have stopped going to my local "big city" Goodwills because they all sell CDs/DVDs for $2.99 each. That's ridiculous unless you strike gold on an OOP or valuable edition. One even sees if the movies are multi-disc and charges you $2.99 EACH. I realize its for charity but come on. When I go on my road trips I hit up the small town GWs and they are at .99 for both or $1.99 which is fine.

Found this at a thrift store for $1.

It's streaming free on Prime, but if I like the movie, the DVD has extras, isn't on Blu-ray, and I'll never come across it in the wild again, so I figured what the heck...

If nothing else, nice cast.

Found this new and sealed for $1 at a local-ish thrift:

The Ray Bradbury Theater (Volume 2)

I wish they had Volume 1, but I assume these are all standalone episodes, so that shouldn't matter too much.

Scored a big grab bag of stuff at a Goodwill (including the original blu-ray of Sleeping Beauty, Tropic Thunder on blu-ray, the DVD of Cecil B. Demented and a bunch of CDs) all for $1.99 each.

That's amazing! I work at Goodwill and we have to scan the barcodes on everything and so pretty much anything worth five bucks (or is at x-level on Amazon's list of in-demand stuff) gets sent to be sold online. That's probably three-quarters of the blu-rays that come in. The stuff we do get to keep we price at 3.99 or 4.99 or higher -- even the DVDs are all at least 2.99. In fact, we're not allowed to price them lower.

Oh that is super clarifying as to why I've probably never had a good movie find at Goodwill. I stopped going in because it never proved worthwhile for me (as far as movies go).
It's a little bit disappointing to hear, but it really clears things up.

Quite a shocker yesterday at my tiny thrift store a block from where I work.

Also, Metropolitan Criterion DVD for $2.

Found it still sealed with the Walmart Black Friday PROMO sticker on it (Pink). I figured it was well worth the two bucks.

Found these at a library for 50 cents each, but I think that's close enough to the spirit of this thread.

DVDs

Was particularly happy to find Wonder Boys as it's a favorite of mine and there's no Blu-ray (because Paramount sucks).

Book
