I just contacted them and this is the conversation I had with a CS representative.
Me: This concerns the 4K steelbook release of 2001. The order is Order # 205-********-******8. It is not being listed on the Amazon UK website. Will I still be getting a copy on the 28th of October ? I am asking because as a prolific collector on the forum bluray.com many people who have ordered this item with Amazon instead of Zaavi and HMV due to the lower price (£5 to be exact) have had their orders cancelled. Is this due to a stock allocation issue ? Namely that people who ordered this later than me for example cannot be supplied ? X: No worries about that you will get the order as mentioned to you. Once we get the order we will ship the item and sent you by 29th Oct. Me: Okay then. That is good for me. But can I ask you did Amazon receive a fixed number of units and they were all sold out which meant later orders from customers had to be cancelled because they could not be supplied ? This is going to be a very popular release being a seminal film and Zaavi and HMV have also sold out. Which means those people who have had their orders cancelled are in a bit of a fix at present. X: As you order this as pre-order we will definitely help you by getting the delivery on time.We will definitely check how many customers has ordered as preorder and get the stock and delivery the items first to pre-order customers. Thanks again. ![]() So I will wait with bated breath as I have ordered the steelbook and digipack. Perhaps as I mentioned in the conversation they ran out of stock so that customers who decided to order the steelbook later simply could not have their orders fulfilled. It's pretty abominable though and given that HMV and Zaavi have sold out it leaves them if they really want the steelbook release in the hands of those abominations known as scalpers. They and this includes you SpeakertoAnimals should complain vehemently explain the situation and perhaps you can get a voucher from them as some recompense. |

This is very odd.
I got one of those emails yesterday saying my order has been cancelled and yet when I checked my account today the order is still open and listed as being delivered on the release date. I guess I will just wait and see what happens then. Bloody Amazon again ![]() |

Amazon cancelled my September preorder too, so I enquired about it and here is an extract:
Me: I've received a message from amazon cancelling my pre-order for this item. I'm EXTREMELY disappointed! amazon: Please do not worry at all about it, I will look into this for you and will help you as well. Me: I hope so TYVM amazon: I have checked this for you and found that this item has been cancelled by our internal team as we are no longer able to obtain stock from our supplier. Well, I phoned up Amazon to query my order, the guy went off to look into it, then came back and told me that sadly stock wasn't available and advised me to cancel the order.
Interestingly, I'd floated the idea that if I couldn't get it from Amazon I'd be left looking to buy it elsewhere, which is what the guy advised me to do when he came back. I'm wondering if anyone who doesn't actually cancel their order may still end up getting this, and where does that leave you if you've managed to find one somewhere else? Desk |

I contacted them. Some robot offered apologies and understanding. I’ll have to see if any scalper on eBay accepts apologies and understanding instead of PayPal

Well I got a probably erroneous shipped email from Entertainment Store on eBay. Had a big order to use one of the recent eBay vouchers.
Quite a few items already arrived but they claimed 2001 and Braveheart 4K shipped which must be wrong as another month until that comes out. Matrix Trilogy 4K is still pending though. All very confusing. |

I’ve also cancelled my John Carpenter 4k special editions from them. I have the steelbooks on order from Zavvi so I was going to cancel them anyway but I wanted them to watch themselves lose £29.99 every time they made an unhelpful response.

I’ve just cancelled my Zatoichi boxset too. I know it’s just a drop in the ocean to Amazon but this f*ck up just cost them nearly £250.

Wow sorry to hear so many people having problems with Amazon over this. I remember when this was added to their website and noticed the cheaper price. I just don’t trust Amazon with collectible releases after being burned badly a few years ago. So I kept my HMV pre-order. So glad I did. Amazon has really gone downhill in my opinion.

So, I've just contacted the amazon.co.uk customer service per chat and this was what came out:
Hello, I got an email regarding Order # 205-XXXXXXXX-XXX and it seems very strange to me. Just wanted to check, that my order is being processed normal. I seem to remember being quick off the mark getting my pre-order in which is why I was surprised to get a cancellation email. They were still taking orders for this just a couple of weeks ago so if they had sold all their stock allocation then those of us who ordered early should be protected from cancellations - if it's limited it should be first come first served. My order is still open however so I'm starting to think that some of us received cancellation emails by mistake. |

thank you for this thread. l too received the email, so l began watch for the live notice over at bestbuy for their release of this steelbook. but like you all said, i checked my orders at Amazon, and see that's it's still scheduled to arrive Nov. 5 - 7. l guess i'll wait and see as well.

I've ordered on the 6th as well.
Just type Amazon.co.uk customer service in Google and the contact us link. Click on the order you want to complain about and then you can choose how you want to contact them. Quote:
