It's definitely a different shade than normal blu-rays. I've contacted Paramount for next steps. I don't particularly want to go to the trouble of sending this one back if Paramount Canada has been producing these themselves.

Season 1 was confirmed Region Free in this thread, can anyone confirm if Season 2 is also Region Free?

Has no one else received a BD-R? Wow, I must have the worst luck in the world! 2 in a row! Still no response from Paramount.

In this day and age of the vast majority of TV shows being inexplicably released only on DVD, it’s really damn near a miracle to just get BD releases. 4K UHD discs for 99%+ of shows are a pipe dream (and it frustrates me just as much as it does you).

The blu-rays of Yellowstone look damn good so be thankful we got them, cause even a blu-ray release ain't guaranteed anymore

The only TV on 4K so far has been from WB, and that's not all that much to begin with, and Stranger Things... so probably not even 0% lol

I did. Bought both of mine at Walmart too.....

I had the same question you did but Paramount hasn’t answered me back. They play great and look great....so I dunno.

A pre-order just went up for the third season (no release date, yet):

Glad to see Paramount continuing with the series.

Season 1 & 2 are getting released in Australia from Via Vision Entertainment on August 26th.

Might pick it up and have a look at the show. Until now it's only been on streaming service Stan over here (who have also gone all out with the marketing for Season 3 over here. Literally anywhere you look: billboards, public transport stops, broadcast TV, everywhere there will be a Yellowstone ad.)

I also recently picked up S1 and S2 from an eBay seller, and they appear to be bootlegs. There is the telltale dark purple-ish color of the data side, and the small text around the spindle hole even indicates BD-R.

S2 came with a slipcover that was extremely difficult to remove, too.

Same thing happened to me. Filed a complaint and was immediately fully refunded. The seller had hundreds of positive reviews and had everything listed as brand new. Really disappointing that this kind of stuff is becoming more common. Makes me avoid ebay a lot more.

I finally got around to opening my copy of season 2, and it's definitely a normal pressed Blu-ray. I'm surprised by the prevalence of bootlegs for this release as it really doesn't seem like that big a target for bootleggers to focus on. I almost wonder if Paramount/their replicator accidentally did a batch as BD-R at some point.

Picked up Season 3 at Best Buy today. It comes with a slip and pressed discs. I know there was a previous discussion on that. My only complaint is the eco case.

Costner in such a resurgence at the moment with this and 'Let Him Go'. Pleased for him... great actor and seems a decent guy.

Rather than go through the hassle of returning yet another BD-R copy of season 2, I put it on the shelf and moved on. It played fine, so whatever.

Just received season 3 and...it is also a BD-R! Got the tight-fitting slipcover, basically the same look and feel as season 2.

It was an Amazon.ca order via a third-party seller again. Just can't believe that my only two experiences with purported bootlegged blus would be the same damn series! I really think there must be another explanation for this.

Taken together with Paramount's total silence in response to my previous queries, I think some markets are getting officially produced BD-Rs. It has inserts, the cover has an episode listing on the backside, but it also has the official blu-ray logo (which would make this fraud, correct?) and the label on the disc's front surface looks rather cheap.

Little bit pissed this time, quite honestly.

Stop buying from a third party? It's also possibly that Paramount's letting Amazon do MOD BD-R like some of their other movies... but if you buy it in physical store, it can't be BD-R.
