Real game of the year!

Any of you gamers like a game that isn't first person POV and/or not a shooter?

As an old guy (really old) the FPOV makes me carsick -- so I like those games where I can "stand back" and see my character and move them around (or not have to pan much at all). I loved both of the James Bond PS2 games ("From Russia with Love", "All or Nothing") for that very reason. Any old fart games that are any good?

R&C:ToD and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.... and all sports games.

I do agree with you to a certain degree. I do feel like the FPS genre is hogging the market.

The screen tearing is very, very far from awful. Almost everyone I know who has seen it thinks the game looks phenomenal and no one has ever even notices the tearing when you panning the camera. It's an issue for some but not for most... let's not exaggerate.

I am waiting for SOCOM:CONFRONTATION! That is the reason I bought a PS3 in the first place. IMO nothing beats that game for Multiplayer! BRISSSSIIIUUUU GRENADOOOOO!

LOL. I didn't realize acting was part of the GOTY awards, but you're right, I was getting annoyed with the cut-scenes with him. But for just the gameplay itself it was still my fav.

bioshock is game of the year. it'll go down as one of this gen's best games.

I use my 360 for gaming more than I do the PS3, but I agree Halo 3 didn't even make the bottom of my list.

I think the problem with the GOTY awards is there's not a lot of public polling to decide. You got a bunch of easily swayed paid people making this GOTY list and then voting the top 10 in and selecting the best by making a poll... It's so apparent that there are threads like these to select the true heroes.

Like the post above I think Uncharted was by far the most underrated GOTY, and deserves praise all around (minus screen tears). That game environment is friggin gorgeous to play in.

Uncharted, Heavenly Sword and R&C are 3rd person games.

I'm going to go against the grain and say Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords.

Great blend of RPG and puzzle game, no other game caught and kept my attention as long as this one did...and I've played most games on the standard lists.
