Jury's out for me so far. The lighting and fight scenes are great but the CGI characters are a bit "cut-scene" at times (and last gen at that). Story is ok so far; music is in the right ball-park, except for the annoying songs. It's not the Blade Runner I'd want, ideally, but I'll keep watching.

I'm liking it so far but it's too early in the story (especially since we only got two episodes out of 13) to get a full opinion on it, I think so far it's finding a good balance between action, characters, world building, and story. I already bought the full season on Google Play so I'm absolutely in it for the entire run. But I do agree the animation is hit or miss at times, but for a fully CGI TV production it looks pretty decent.

It was OK. Nice to be back in that world & the backgrounds & Spinners were very cool, but as duggie says, the character animation was a bit low-rent in comparison, especially Doc Badger.

One thing that confused me - in the end credits, the first episode (City of Angels) was labelled 102 & the second (All We Are Not) was 103. Did I miss an episode?

First two episodes were ok, I don't hate it but I'm not dying to see the next episode.

Just wish the episodes were more like the intro.

A question that I hope the show answers:

Whose creating replicants?

Because the Black Out in 2022 lead to the prohibition of Replicant production and that prohibition wasn't repealed until 2036 (Nexus Dawn short).

This series is 2032. So 4 years before Nexus Dawn.

I have the same question. When Elle looked up at that blip promoting the Off-World Colonies, I was like, wut? Maybe we're back to how things were in the original film, where replicants were permitted so long as they weren't on earth. I guess they'd all have to be Nexus-8. Maybe this was addressed in the Nexus Dawn short, but I honestly can't remember.

Looks awful. CG is supposed to be cheaper than traditional animation, but that's only when the animators do such a half-assed, low-funded job.

While I can’t say for American made videogames, but based on Japanese games I say it is way more closer to PS3. Sometimes with Japan this would be considered PS4 level since Japan never really focuses on the graphics for their games unless it’s a game that would sell like a million copies or more. I think that’s why Japanese Developers are more into the Switch and iOS/Android devices where it really is no matter what the graphics look like since that is where most Japanese do their gaming anyways these days.

So Japan has different standards than the U.S. and when Japan does CGI without a gigantic budget, it shows. Like for instance Fena Pirate Princess was more normal Anime style so it doesn’t show as much that it would have been a low budget since it wasn’t a total CGI series like Black Lotus.

I just watched the first 3 episodes today on Spectrum on-demand. I will watch the final 2 episodes tomorrow. The lead, Elle, reminds me of Alita Battle Angel.

The ~20min runtime on this is killing me - progress is pretty slow. the episode a week format is not doing this any favors or I'm just spoiled by being able to binge most streaming shows. I'm out until I can either catch the whole season on disc or have all 13 eps. to view at once. I like the premise and the show, but one good plot point and then see you next week is not working for me.

No offense but you’re definitely spoiled by Streaming. TV Shows are meant to be viewed on a weekly basis especially if the episodes are new not binge watched. Like having it weekly makes it like being excited for the next episode. Like I am so looking forward to Saturday for the next episode. Binge watching doesn’t give you anything to look forward to since you’re just watching it.

I'd prefer them to drop 2 eps a week. I'm enjoying it so far - it gets more right than wrong and nails the ambience - but it's frustratingly slight at the moment.

Oh, I definitely am spoiled - no offense taken. Mind you I'm 69 years old and grew up with stuff like The Fugitive, Hill Street Blues, and more than a few great half-hour shows but for some reason the short run-time for this makes it seem that the episode is over just as it gets going. On topic, the show is OK if a bit pedestrian story-wise. I would prefer 2D drawn/computer animation as the digital characters are a bit stiff looking but it's serviceable. I look forward to collecting it all and seeing it in a binge of 2-3 eps. at a time.

Well this Friday will be considered like the 3rd or 4th Marathon the series has had so far because of how much they are promoting the series. So most likely will have more Marathons of it as the series goes on. Though the Marathons will always start on episode 1 and will just keep growing for each Marathon that they do as the series progresses.

You know the series is going to be 3DCGI if it has Shinji Aramaki with Kenji Kamiyama Directing it and having Sola Digital Arts Animating it.

I think with the 13 episode format it means the story moves slowly but when getting to the 2nd half, it will likely become better. Like we gone through the introductions, now time for the series to pick up. But it is better than the Adult Swim Comedy shows where most of them are only 11 minutes rather than 22 like this.
