So funny how many people hate Black Panther now...when it broke multiple box office records and was widely regarded as one of the best.

Honest question: which one is which?

I would add to my previous post that I think CGI brings both movies down. WS would maybe be my #1 in the MCU, but the overly CG finale always kinda loses me. Same goes for BP, but the poor CG there lasts throughout so maybe I just adjust to it before the rhinos show up lol. I don’t think bad CG is enough to ruin an otherwise good/very good movie, but Marvel/Disney really do need to pay more attention to it. But I get that people will show up regardless, so the studios have no incentive to rectify anything (and BP getting a VFX nomination would NOT help). I think WS got nominated IIRC, but in that movie’s case it wasn’t so much that the CG was bad, I just didn’t like how it goes from relatively grounded and serious to full-on CBM in the last 20 minutes.

Also Black Panther in Civil War > Black Panther in Black Panther.
I will admit that the CG is wonky and the final battle should have been cut down from The Phantom Menace-esque three way battle to a much more singular fight between Kilmonger and T'Challa because I felt there was much more emotional weight there but the final scene between the two of them and the words the former says before he keels over are genuinely affecting. Plus hearing Baaba Maal in anything is more than enough to give it a pass.

Well, I've never hated it, I just have a balanced criticism of it as opposed to most who gush about it like it's one of the greatest comic book superheros movie ever. It's a really good movie, I'd even say a potentially great movie that was tainted with a terrible finale. My harshness stems from the fact that people have overhyped the film. And while I do enjoy the movie, it is only to a certain degree. After seeing movies like Creed and CA: Civil War, there's no reason why Coogler and Marvel Studios could not have had a great one-on-one full blown physical hand to hand fight between t'Challa and Kilmonger, much like Tony, Cap, and Bucky had at the end of Civil War. But instead we got a cartoon of two cats jumping around and scenes of rhinos running all over the place. Weak sauce.

If I am, it's for the same reason I get triggered over Wonder Woman. People love these movies for what they represent and their importance -- I totally get that, but anyone that has a sound criticism against the films on a filmmaking level, and doesn't agree that these films are not as great as a majority of people have made them out to be, seems to often get viewed as a racist or misogynist. The truth of the matter is, I just don't think they're all that great compared to a lot of other superhero movies.

They already fight hand-to-hand with minimal CGI during the waterfall sequence. I have no issue with them fighting in the Panther suits, it just needed to not look like an N64 cutscene.

I like Black Panther more than Winter Solider, I thought Winter Soldier was a bit pedestrian honestly.

There’s a good chance the Nick Fury car chase in WS is my favorite MCU action scene. It’s definitely up there.

I don’t understand why Marvel fans are so upset aboht Black Panther being in the Oscar race. Who cares if you prefer other films in the franchise, just enjoy the ****ing ride. This is the comic book genre getting rare awards recognition. It may break the stigma and pave the way for future CBMs to do the same.

Read the room. This forum hasn’t been very friendly to Black Panther in any of the other Marvel threads, so you didn’t even have to ask to know what the answer would be.

Wow. Must be because it's still new. Let's see how that stands in a few years. I love the movie, but I think the six movies listed directly after it are better.
