It may not be accurate but having stars at different depth planes looks great in 3D.

Another funny one, of a different sort, is in Avatar where Sam Worthington has some pictures on a surface/wall and the pictures are also in 3D.

I kind of agree with @GFF and @Telegram Sam that the best use of 3D in movies isn't about realism. To me it's more about doing whatever it takes to either bring you into the movie or the movie closer to you

Spacewalker on the mother hand is a Russian 3D docu-drama with awesome 3D. Watched yesterday.

Avatar predicts a future where people post glasses-free 3D pics on their walls? Well maybe it's not entirely a dystopian future then.

The 3D starfield is like the moving starfield in Star Trek (2D) in that maybe it's not realistic, but it's more visually engaging.

Then you both will have to agree with my assertion that depth is just as much a gimmick as pop-outs. I don't mind the 3d gimmicks but it's funny to me that you only hear the whining about before the screen gimmicks. For me, the stronger the better.

Oops meant to quote CDx also but hit the thanks button instead.

Good to see some love for hyperstereo here; it's always been my favourite style of 3D: Any time 3D's used to show views in a way we can't see them in reality always gets a thumbs up from me, so stereo starfields and discernably spherical planets are solid favourites.

I've got quite a few of those on my walls - including an Avatar one..! My favourite is a 3' x 2' lenticular of Roger Kastel's awesome Jaws poster, great to see that classic piece of art in 3D: When I got hold of that one I never dreamt that one day the film itself would get a 3D conversion too.

Has anyone here had any luck capturing a still from a 3D Blu-ray, interpolating extra frames in between the left & right eye views (as per GFF's videos), and then getting it printed as a lenticular? There are so many I'd like to do...

Anyway, on topic, I guess I should get hold of a copy of Salyut-7.
