A five minute sequence that has christmas doesn't make it a Christmas film, the same way the office isn't a Christmas show just because it has episodes set at Christmas.
Oh I know, I was just joking.

No matter what anyone says, Die Hard is still the best xmas film.

Small Soldiers always felt like a Christmas film to me without actually being set at Christmas.

Rare Exports is good.

I think Curse of the Cat People happens at Christmas.

So does one or more of the Rocky films. And the Star Wars Holiday Special.

And for some reason, the MST3K episode of Jack Frost has become a tradition for me.

Casper

For some reason, I always associate it with winter/Christmas season... even though it was released in Spring?

I don't think The Family Stone is a super unconventional Christmas movie but many haven't seen it. It's my favorite Christmas movie period. After watching it recently I'd put 1985 on there. And it's been mentioned but The Ref is great. If you like horror Better Watch Out is also great. P2 was also an enjoyable holiday thriller. It's free on Vudu right now I believe. I haven't seen it since theaters but have been meaning to watch it again.

I’ve watched The Family Stone the last 3 years in December. It has a great cast. I plan on watching 1985 this month too.

I try and watch The Family Stone every holiday season. It's so underrated. I can't believe it doesn't have a Blu-ray release either after all of these years.

1985 is just terrific. Makes me so mad it didn't get a better distributor and wasn't in the awards mix this year. Virginia Madsen for sure deserved to be nominated for Supporting Actress. Definitely plan on watching it again soon. Bought the Blu-ray and am going to have friends of mine watch it.

Trancers.
There are two kinds of people in this world: Those who recognize Trancers as a Christmas movie and those who are wrong.
