Do pay attention, 007. Kino have been working on this for months, regardless of whatever happened today.

I like Hannibal just as much as SOTL.

Several references to Dante's La Vita Nuova (including the song) Vide Cor Meum, are my favourite moments.

Ridley Scott reused the song Vide Cor Meum in the 'Kingdom of Heaven' . . . though it does not resonate as much as it does in Hannibal.

Already have Criterion SOTL so I was holding out on Hannibal since I have the DVD. Time to upgrade has arrived.

Great to see more companies throwing their support behind UHD physical releases! Because these are all Region free this means that people in the rest of the world get acces to these releases. Hopefully Arrow and Criterion are next.

lol. Can't blame them for wanting to fit in with the majority of stuff already on the format.

Very, very exciting news. Can't wait to see what Kino does with the format.

I have a feeling that more independent distributors may jump on the 4K bandwagon. They might as well! If they want give the consumers the initiative to buy and to sell more product, and by releasing 4K titles will give them a opportunity to succeed vs the standard blu-rays, that's if they release good movies on the format.

That reminds me, I really should dig out the old UK BD to see how hilariously oversharpened and DNR’d it is as per Uni’s M.O. I do like Hannibal, not to the same extent as SOTL but it’s a fun, engaging piece of work on its own terms and the ending is so much better than the book. Ridley did a pretty good job on this one.

The underlying master itself really wasn't too bad, it just got the shit end of the stick with a rather poor US BD and a UK BD which had that weird vertical stretch. The corrected UK disc holds up pretty well, watched it again not too long ago. The 4K will murder it obviously, but this is one of those rare times when Universal didn't crap all over the transfer for once.

Bet the deleted scenes will still look like hot garbage though.
I’d pre-order this if I had a UHD BD player and a good 4K TV (my current is a Panasonic).

More Ridley Scott in 4K is a win for a me! I actually like the film, though it's the weakest in the Hopkins Hannibal trilogy IMO. Would love to see a cut with the deleted scenes back in, as there's some pretty decent ones that connect back to Silence Of The Lambs.

All the extras appear to be extant material so given how Kino don't often encode these too well then they may well end up looking even worse than before. If they had any sense they'd just rip the stuff bit for bit from the existing DVD/BD and slap it onto the disc.
