I actually like both cuts for different reasons. The EU cut is paced better (I only ever saw it for the first time a couple years ago), but I also feel like the longer US cut works well too, and that's the version we've always had over here. I think it's more representative of Jack's slow descent into madness so the longer cut I feel really works in that regard. That being said, I do hope both cuts are included although I have my doubts. ~Matt |

Very true but it does make you wonder why he felt the US audience needed all the extra info. Probably one of those things we will never get an answer to.

The American version was released first. I'd say the simplest explanation was that he decided there were more cuts he wanted to make, similar to the cut he did make to the American version days after its release (the hospital scene).

(Live in the UK), I had the US HD DVD and the UK Blu Ray. I like both cuts and both give the film a different overall feel. The US cut is more like a horror/drama with the extra scenes, slower building. The European cut is more horror/thriller, non-stop, less dialogue. Both are excellent depending on your mood.

What are the chances of Warner Bros giving this a special packaging like 2001?

I get that they're testing the waters with these Kubrick UHDs, but I'd rather Warners just threw caution to the wind and released a box set. I want Clockwork and Eyes Wide Shut nowwwwwwwww. |
