It's a shame Lionsgate doesn't license out most of their own 4K releases. In Australia/NZ we get most of SC's stuff through Sony/Universal, but LG is through Roadshow and they don't seem to be bothering with any 4K catalog stuff.

Now that you mention it some SC stuff goes/went through Universal in some European countries too, the Italian T2 with that dreadful 'comic book' cover comes to mind (though Eagle have it now IIRC). I believe that cover was also inflicted on you Down Under?

Ah yeah, those are gross. I accidentally ended up with a copy of Highlander with one of those. There was a whole range of them, then an even worse "street art" re-re-release of mostly the same titles. Witness the cringeness:

Not sure, but IIRC with every single UHD that StudioCanal have released thus far in Europe they've included a remastered BD with it as well. (Apart from the Doors steelbook, lol)

I dogged a bullet with that Doors steelbook. I had it pre-ordered at one point, but then I realized how unremarkable it looked and decided to cancel it.

never seen this or even heard of it. Doesn't seem to be that good. What a random release

Rotten Tomatoes, a review aggregator, reports that 17% of twelve surveyed critics gave the film a positive review; the average rating is 4.2/10.[7] Kevin Thomas of the Los Angeles Times wrote that Stallone "defies credibility to the point of inviting unintended laughter."[8] Hal Hinson of The Washington Post wrote, "Lock Up bears the unmistakable mark of a vanity production".[9]

The film was nominated for three Razzie Awards including Worst Picture, Worst Actor for Sylvester Stallone and Worst Supporting Actor for Donald Sutherland, but failed to win any of those categories

“Kevin Thomas of the Los Angeles Times wrote that Stallone "defies credibility to the point of inviting unintended laughter."

Isn’t that kind of why we love Stallone movies? He’s generally ridiculous with his mostly unintelligible dialogue and overly veiny arms, but his classic action movies are enjoyable, tongue-in-cheek fun. I recently re-watched Cobra...a silly movie, but it’s ridiculously fun to watch Stallone, definitely defying credibility, in full on comic book hero mode.

Was going to pass on upgrading this one, but after reading the review, I'm on it once it hits a sale price.

Watched my Lionsgate review copy and this is, as the site review confirms, one of the better Studio Canal 4K remasters for sure. Colors, crispness are exceptional. Few instances of degraining here and there but it's a sizable upgrade on the old Blu-Ray and enhances the film overall. BTW the Blu-Ray itself in this package is brand new like Geoff indicated -- like the Rambo 1-3 releases, it's a remastered disc off the same transfer.

As for the movie -- it's good. Actually quite good if you've never seen it. It's not filled with '80s cheese and I wouldn't pay a ton of attention to the reviews back then. I think a lot of critics simply "had it in for" Stallone back in the late '80s and crapped on everything he made (some of it with good reason, but not so much this film). The film pretty much stays in its lane, it's not a comic book action film and is well worth seeing IMO.

Yes, I quite agree. I've always liked this movie, I remember seeing it at the theatre in its day, and have re-watched a few times......

I’m really exited for this. I know it gets some slack, some question LG’s releases, I admit I have a few times but I appreciate variety. This is the type of title I throw on when I don’t know what to watch. I’m also excited for Universal Soldier, I would love if WB released some Seagal’s too.
