In terms of ATMOS being able to go to 24.1.10 please tell me a how many of you actually have that?

There are more who would love to go to 9.1.6 or greater now that pre-amp/processors are starting to drop in price that can handle better Atmos rendering given improved DSP chipsets that can bring the manufacturing costs down.

If IMAX Enhanced audio was so great, tell me, why do they have to artificially goose the LFE output on the IMAX certified receiver or pre-amp side of things? A lot of people have complained of the automatic change in cross-over settings and the jacking up of the output when IMAX Enhanced mode is triggered. You have to go in and manually defeat it.

That is a PITA.

Wow, I didn't realize this and it is disgusting and insane this is the case.

I keep on expecting them to do more cr** and say add a forced subtitle track consisting of an upper and lower black bar to force 2.35:1 over IMAX ratio if you don't have particular set of gear...

It is odd that the whole IMAX enhanced has turned into basically nothing but audio rubbish, both with the introduction of yet another lossy 3d audio codec (where we already have DTS-X HRA on the DTS side, and that codec was and is problematic for every receiver, see the Fast and Furious 6 and 7 releases, which to this day, we are still waiting for Anthem to release a fix for, even though they had announced an IMAX enhanced firmware update), and the disappointment of there being nothing in terms of what people associate with IMAX, eg the aspect ratio.

They have headed down a path making themselves a piece of consumer contempt like THX became after their garbage stamps on some utter rubbish DVD releases, or Lowrey restoration became after the Bond DVDs. Something you in future discounted and turned your nose up at whenever the name came up in future...

DTS:X is a remix. It is *always* a remix since it's incompatible with Atmos and even DTS:X theatrical.

And it's not the same as the standard near-field mix done for home video - which doesn't goose LFE or height channels.

And it's ironically funny some people claim to be "all about original audio" yet hypocrites about this. It's all about they have an irrational hate-on for certain brands I guess.

Some people feel the need to do free PR work apparently

So Sony's first DTS:X track. Interesting.

Oooo.

That might be a sign that Sony might be transcending to DTS:X.

Is there a 2.39 UHD non IMAX version? The constant change of AR is distracting and ruins the movie. Another commercial gimmick to justify higher prices by making it worse!

Do we know if this has an alternating AR?

The question now is whether the IMAX master used is riddled with EE and excessive DNR.

We already know the DTS: X track is just 7.1.4. The last DTS: X IMAX track, Angry Birds 2, was actually pretty anemic.

Which is too bad since the Vudu Dolby Atmos streaming sound mix version of Angry Birds 2 has sound effects cues and music bouncing around everywhere

Just another reason why "IMAX Enhanced" is dumb. So many people are going to think it means the aspect ratio will be bigger or something will be better when so far it just means the disc avoids any use of Dolby.

Yeah it's a Denon and Marantz AVR Reciever certification.

It might come to other receivers but only time will tell.

Might as well. You have Dolby Vision plus Dolby Atmos. This seems like another alternative.

But choice is bad when people are brand warriors

Anthem announced it, but it has yet to appear

Be glad it hasn't. It just jacks with your settings.

Like some sort of night mode or dynamic range control you cannot turn off, but not based on a cinema mix
