This is the first time in quite a while where I'm not all that jazzed for the coming year. With that said, a couple of my favorite directors, Edgar Wright and Matthew Vaughn, both have films coming out... the Tom Hanks sci-fi BIOS looks interesting... and then there's two from Pixar, which rarely disappoint. Hopefully there'll be a more few surprises along the way.
So to recap: - The King's Man (Matthew Vaughn) - Last Night in Soho (Edgar Wright) - BIOS (Miguel Sapochnik) - Onward (Dan Scanlon) - Soul (Pete Doctor) |

OK, I have a preliminary list which will need to be trimmed down. It's absurdly long. I'm very bad at this sort of thing, obviously.
![]() I'm going to put most of the list in SPOILERS because it's just too long. Also, these are in no order whatsoever. But the first grouping I put the crazy long list of films from practically every single one of my favorite directors together. But the rest are just random groupings. OK, here we go! Blonde — (Andrew Dominik) Mank — (David Fincher) Let Them All Talk — (Steven Soderbergh) On the Rocks — (Sofia Coppola) [Untitled] — (PTA) Dune — (Denis Villeneuve) Tenet — (Christopher Nolan) Benedetta — (Paul Verhoeven) The Last Duel — (Ridley Scott) The Woman in the Window — (Joe Wright) Nightmare Alley — (Guillermo del Toro) [Untitled] — (Jonathon Glazer) [Show spoiler]

I wasn't even interested in Mulan until I watched the trailer a few days ago and saw how gorgeous it looked. I have no idea how I'll react to the story itself, but it's going to be beautiful to look at. That much I know.
And seriously, Gong Li said the budget was approximately $300M -- that can't be right, can it? Holy cow! $300,000,000?! Jesus. These budgets are getting totally out of hand. |
