Director Edgar Wright isn't a fan of it either:

A loud boo to Disney for this. Why not screen classic (or even non classic) Fox movies for paying audiences? Lots of my favourite movies, seemingly not longer available to screen... Alien, Raising Arizona, Phantom Of The Paradise & far too many more.

Alien was shown this month via Fathom Events and actual prints.

I don't see how anyone could think this is good for cinema, or especially the theatrical experience. The audiences who usually turn out for special engagements and Fathom screenings are the some of the best you'll find. Some people won't care until Disney does away with something they love, and that indifference is only going to make them more bold.

I don't believe Disney ever even thought that. You know what lets new generations enjoy them? Being readily available.

This is all theatrical and not home video, right? While that sucks for people who go to movie events and stuff, I haven't even went to the theater to see a new movie in 4 years, much less one that's been out for a while... so this personally won't have any effect on me. But with Halloween coming up, you know all these Rocky Horror events will suffer from possibly not being able to screen the movie.

Sounding like a certain troll in the Fox and Dark Phoenix thread where they mention it didn't matter what happened to the rest of the catalog just as long as Disney got their MCU fix.

Not a surprise, Disney really doesn't care about anything but $$$. They will do whatever it takess to squeeze $$$ out of people and while doing it give them lesser quality (especially audio) than other studios because they keep buying everything.

Not to mention them recalling all rights to releasing classic Fox titles on boutique-label Blu-Rays. It's sad to see what they are doing to Twilight Time in particular. I don't think they have a chance in hell of surviving this. The vast majority of the titles they released were Fox. And there were SO MANY more I wanted to see released. It's hard to remain a Disney fan when you abhor their corporate identity so much.

You guys seem to be forgetting Fox was not profitable its why they were sold. While I dont agree with the vault thing Disney is going to do its thing and what it needs to do to make Fox profitable.

I thought of this earlier. Fox needs to downscale and start fresh. But still, it's still scary because you never know. You never know. Fox was way too ironic for this to happen. It's a real shame.

Not true: Fox was consistently profitable and had the best profit margins of any studio. They were sold because old man Murdoch lost interest and because Disney wanted their international delivery systems and distribution infrastructure and TV arm. The few Marvel franchises were a bonus (though not nearly worth the purchase price) but it was clear from the moment negotiations started they had no interest in Fox as a film studio.

Now it's making me think of the newly released OMEN collection set. Don't care for Four and the Remake...though the original three make a nice trilogy. They might pull the rights and just let Shout Factory just sell whatever they have in stock.
