The Scream disc of THE FOG does indeed have the original mono, as has been confirmed already... but it has the dubious honor of being one of the only original tracks I choose NOT to use, even though I'm a bit obsessive about my original audio. THE FOG mono is just a mess... crackly and varying wildly in volume. I take a deep OCD breath and choose the mercifully inoffensive 5.1 track whenever I watch it.

I do own plenty of uhd movies with just the original audio and with some of those films I do think about what would it be like remastered in those new audio formats. Other wise I feel I'm just buying the same thing again. I brought the original 4 Batman movies many times over and Batman 89 is my favourite movie ever and I really don't have a problem with the Atmos mix. It is still the same film but it gave me a new thrilling experience with the film. I already have the original BD with the original 5 1 audio with that transfer and I've worn the @#$& out of it but now with the new uhd with its new transfer and new audio it like a new coat of paint and I love it. I can still revisit the original BD with that audio anytime but after the Atmos mix I probably highly likely won't go back....but I can if I feel the need too. The audio on SC's Fog UHD has its own problems, that of being pitched up and having a slightly warbly effect on the 5.1, but the 2.0 downmix doesn't have the warbling and as someone who lives in PAL land then I'm used to pitched up audio. Not ideal, but I'll take it. |

What about recent catalogs that have Atmos mixes that were the original audio in theaters? And they weren't Atmos on standard Blu-ray disc? Atmos has been around since 2012 but took a couple years to come home.
Star Trek Into Darkness Frozen Zootopia Big Hero 6 Pacific Rim Brave The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Ant-Man Avengers: Age of Ultron Captain America: The Winter Soldier Captain America: Civil War Iron Man 3 Thor: The Dark World Doctor Strange Cinderella Maleficent Ender's Game Hunger Games: Catching Fire Finding Dory The Good Dinosaur Guardians of the Galaxy Inside Out Lucy Man of Steel Moana Oblivion |

Is there any way to differentiate the titles within the above list from original audio and completely new remix?

As I understand it, all the Disney ones are "fixed print-outs" that literally just have 7.1.4 channels rather than the 64 or 128 'objects' (I forget the exact numbers, someone more clued up than me can nail those numbers down) that the original Atmos mix can contain.

I'll start with the non-Disney titles from your list. If we got confirmation on any of the Disney titles I will add at that time.

Superman audio on all formats before uhd was very lackluster and boring apart from the Williams score. Love the movie.
On uhd the Atmos absolutely blew me away. I've always brought Superman the movie on every new format. Love Superman but the audio never really pulled me in but Atmos just pulls me right in and never lets me go til the finished credits. I will never go back to the 5.1 audio or hahahaha the 2.0 or anything less then Atmos. |

Unless I'm missing something, I don't believe CLOSE ENCOUNTERS and E.T. contain their original audio. I'd LOVE it if they did, but I'm not seein' it. Do we have confirmation of those; certainly not listed for either title on this site.

Is the 5.1 on the UHD different than the 5.1 on the original Close Encounters BD? I thought they were identical.
