I'll gladly take this as the cover art.

^^^

As cool as that is, that cover would anger me. The previous 8 match fairly well enough with having characters on them.

Also, is anyone getting a sneaking suspicion that Disney is gonna release a 9-film 4K mega set in steelbook with a collector case to hold them all? Or do you think they will do individual steelbooks?

I’ll be picking this up in 3D but hope they put out some great WWA for this steel.

With the 4K masters on Disney Plus, it's only a matter of time. 9 films is reasonable for a single set.

I'd love for that to happen, but I don't think it will. I bet they'll do something similar to Marvel's Infinity Saga boxset.

It easily could now that the Fox merger is done.
I’m not sure what can be done with III though as I think it was scanned at 2k. So maybe a slight boost in color range.
Either way I’m down for steel set, even if was BD.

I have my bets setting on a 4K set next December. Right now they want to promote Disney+ by having all the Star Wars movies in 4K streaming. I'm sure once it's died down they'll release a physical set. Maybe even a steelbook line up.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see a set come out in March, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t, either. I could see Disney holding out by having the UHD versions exclusive to Disney+, but at the same time with people’s attention spans these days, that hype will have definitely waned by the time ROS will be hitting disc.

I agree, they don't want to cannibalize Disney+ sales, so offering movies on other platforms right now is likely off limits

II and III were shot in 1080p/2K native. You'll never get true 4K versions of those films.

Some of the 4K versions available on Disney+ also utilize fake HDR:

So, what you want is Disney ordering a complete 4K remaster of the OT, that would at least be a start.

That's never stopped Disney. Pretty much ALL The Marvel movies (outside of two or three I think) are rendered in 1080p, same with some of their animated movies, sadly, so they're not true 4K/HDR either, but there's Disney putting the ol' 4K sticker on their releases.

You saw it first here.

I thought that was seemingly confirmed?

The website thedigitalfix.com reported several months ago that a 4K Star Wars Blu-ray box set was in the works. Citing an anonymous Disney source, the site provided some details about the possibility back in April.
