On the topic of Summer School, it's a a total 80s classic. A lot of people probably don't know that it was co-written by Full House creator Jeff Franklin. He also was a writer for the screenplay of Just One of the Guys and obviously produced a lot of tv shows.
It's still pretty wild that a scene like this is in a PG-13 movie, even if it is in a 'comedic' context: |

2. 80's PG-13 was vastly more lenient than it is today. Last edited by CrazyBlu-RayFan; 11-19-2019 at 08:48 PM. |

Watching my copy now. Great transfer and audio! I found the lossless 2.0 to be the superior option and packs a hell of a punch but both sound great. Kirstie Alley looks even more amazing! So glad to FINALLY own this on blu ray! :rock

Zero chance. These Allied Vaughn items aren't in mass market stores and I have virtually seen none of them under $10 and rarely $13-15 without using things like B&N discounts

Wow I'm really surprised by the mediocre review. I think this is a top notch release. I own the amazon stream for this too and the blu ray is a massive improvement. My scoring would be a 4.5/5 for the transfer and 5/5 for audio. I give the film a 5/5 too.

That's good to know. The screencaps don't look great to me, but perhaps it's just what the film looks like. Some movies have that soft, lower detail look.

The transfer looks very similar to the Twilight Time transfer for The Blob 1988 if you're familiar with how that release looks. I wish there would've been some comments on the 2.0 track because it's a great sounding track.

The transfer looks pretty good to me. I can see grain. I would give it a solid 4. The Blu-ray.com review gave it a 3, which is not right IMO.

Transfer looks like a recent 4k master, as there's more fine detail and (some) grain that makes it look different to the master on streaming which is rife with EE and magenta tint. The reason why it got a 3 was because Sony, in an incredibly rare move for them, fell completely flat on their face with compression. There's massive amounts of heavy macroblocking throughout, especially prominent during the grainier sections and optical effects, that it makes you mistake it for an early Shout or Mill Creek release.

11 years into the Blu-Ray game and this is the best Sony could offer for a 30th anniversary release?!

This definitely looks like a newer, high quality transfer that's been knocked down a few pegs by the shoddy compression. It doesn't look processed or DNR'd at all, so I don't know what the site's review is talking about. Just terribly compressed. Which is really weird coming from Sony.
