I would be all over that release.

Was hoping for the munsters cartoon special "mini munsters" as a extra as it had some of the original cast doing voices.

Massive underselling to not have this listed as a double feature.

I'm actually way more interested in The Munsters' Revenge than Munser Go Home, so that alone is probably going to be enough to get me to pick this one up.

So will this have both the widescreen and open-matte versions or just one?

I would guess just the widescreen version because we're also getting The Munsters' Revenge TV movie.

Rob Zombie is an interesting choice for the commentary for this, but I don't doubt that he's a big fan of this series.

Specs are right here:

That's the specs for The Munsters' Revenge. I think he's asking about Munster Go Home because there are widescreen and fullscreen versions of Munster Go Home on the German blu-ray:

Rob Zombie knows his MUNSTERS, but he has it in for actress Debbie Watson, who replaced Pat Priest for this movie incarnation (Universal wanted to try out a different contract player, and Priest, whose contract I believe was up, clearly had no future at the studio). Fans of the original show cried foul, but Watson's Marilyn actually has more range and is more believable as a fleshed-out human being than the limited-by-design TV versions. Her cute "I'm not a kid anymore" relationship with Eddie is very engaging, as DW was closer to Butch Patrick's age than either Beverly or Pat. Most importantly, this was 1966, and the times they were a-changin'. Beverly Owen and Pat Priest were picture-perfect as early '60s complacent American female beauties, but Debbie Watson, while just as charmingly sweet, is also feisty, has a temper and gets pissed off that her family is being mistreated, her take no crap attitude looking ahead to the feminist movement that was just getting underway. Watson also brought this quality to her performance as TAMMY in the short-lived Universal TV series of 1965. Shout! should have invited the still-with-us actress to contribute to the commentary, along with co-star Butch Patrick, and had Zombie do his thing on a separate track. But I suspect the company is trying to distance themselves from the mostly-forgotten Watson, probably because it's more commercial to push "the complete original family" as a selling point.

Interesting that this blu ray is being promoted as a single feature and the entire TV reunion movie is only listed as a Bonus feature. I think it would sell better if promoted as a DOUBLE FEATURE! It's not like MUNSTER GO HOME was some huge box office smash hit that it could sell itself alone really well. The added feature is what sold me on this.

Yeah, Debbie Watson is probably my favorite Marilyn too. The others weren’t bad though, just too one-dimensional. Plus you could tell Beverly Owen did not want to be there, as pretty-as-a-picture as she was. Also, both Beverly and Pat were pushing 30 while Debbie was an actual teenager.

Anyway, I would’ve loved to have seen an interview to hear her thoughts and experiences on making this movie. Unfortunately I don’t think she’s done any interviews.

She is interviewed on this DVD.

This will be a definite buy for me. I've known about The Munsters for a while, as I'm into cars and saw the Munster Koach and Drag-u-lar years back, but I only got the TV show on DVD last year, which I still haven't seen all of.

I'm very glad I didn't pick up the DVDs for these two films now, but I did for the series, as I thought there would sadly be no chance for it to be released on Blu-ray. But, after seeing how the quality was already fairly decent on the DVD and it all being shot on film, I was hopeful it may one day happen.

I certainly hope, likely along with many here, that the series does get a Blu-ray release. In my opinion, anything that was shot on film should get a Blu-ray release, especially TV shows that were originally broadcast in standard definition. I guess we'll see, but this gives me hope that will happen, as clearly they still want to release media of The Munsters.

I also agree with everyone else who says it's bonkers that they only mention the TV film being included as an extra, that should definitely be something mentioned on the cover, as many like myself will initially think they'll wait until both are released, and get them not realising they're both included.

I hope it doesn't hurt the sales and lower the chance for the series to be released, but I reckon they'd have the sleeves printed by now. Perhaps they could add a sticker to the outside mentioning it is included.
