I'm getting this 100%, but the only Star Wars related thing I'm actually looking forward to next year is 4K80.

I have to disagree. Sure, some people have liked the Special Edition (which one?), but a better movie is a better movie. I'm not saying the guy will keel over if he doesn't see the original version... but it's worth a little time and effort because it's better.

Lucasfilm already said no when JJ Abrams asked recently:

Sure, however not everyone has an HTPC or the ability to playback videos downloaded from certain sources easily on their TV, and if unfamiliar with that might even get confused if the default audio/subs options are out of whack and the entire experience may not be worth the hassle when you can just hop on a free trial of D+ and stream all of the movies at the best quality yet to see if you like them then cancel the trial.

It would be nice if they got rid of Menace's DNR, but of course they probably won't, since I guess it needs to look artificially digital.

Dude, it's his first time watching Star Wars- he should try to see the not-messed-up version- that's all I'm saying. If he can't, he can't.

I just hope they're available individually, or at least as trilogies.

IIRC when they did the Blu-ray 'Complete Saga' they released trilogy sets sans bonus discs at the same time, hopefully LFL will follow the same path this time.

Streaming sucks, period.

The fact that most people aren't aware of the distinction between Star Wars and the "special editions" is a completely separate matter from growth in the franchise. This sort of lazy ill-logic is a plague. It's not you. It's everyone these days. And that's no excuse.

I’m only recommending the fastest, easiest, and best quality way to experience the saga that also happens to be free. Can always dig deeper to experience none of that 1999 CGI or the couple of tweaked scenes.

Yeah but you didn't exactly need a crystal ball and a tarot reading to see it coming, you know? It's like claiming that the sun will rise tomorrow

It likely won’t happen when George is dead, also. My fingers are crossed it doesn’t happen ever. I like seeing the so-called “true Star Wars fans” whine and moan and act all bitter, so I can laugh at them for being the childish man-babies they are.

You're recommending the fastest and easiest way; quality is debatable.

I enjoy that, too, but I'd enjoy seeing official releases of the OT that don't look like crap a little more.

Well, well, well, here we are. The time has come. It's safe to say they will be the same exact versions already on Disney+ and you're goddamn right I wanna get this set. The price though...I need to know how this will be packed before I even consider it.

Maybe they'll include the Holiday Special!!
