I thought the draw back of duel layer is the amount of heat it produces?

The drawback of any tech that wants to produce several thousand nits is the heat it produces, but as I still fondly (or maybe not so fondly) remember how hot my old Pioneer plasma used to get then it seems like the more things change the more they stay the same.

Hmm, so on Sony's UK site it's listed below the A8H (A8 in UK). That would seem to indicate it's a lower model, though not by much since they seem to be very similar judging by what info we currently have.

I'm intrigued by this development, I must say. Sony just throwing mystery OLEDs out there.

Sony uploaded five other videos today of the 2020 lineup besides A85/A87/A89 and Z8H/ZH8 series ones already posted earlier

Three weeks ago at the CES show you had these, so Sony has a lot of TVs for the 2020 lineup. Almost too many.

Typical Sony, why have three or four models when you can have a gazillion? When I use to sell these I remember attending a product launch thingy at their Weybridge UK HQ where one year they made a point of saying that they realised their line-ups were too confusing so they had streamlined them. Good to see that nothing really changes, what with that and their obsession with ridiculously abstract marketing campaigns

I do think they go a bit overboard. Like the OLEDs...
  1. Master Series A9H (55" and 65")
  2. Master Series A9S (48")
  3. A8H (55" and 65")
  4. A85/A87/A89 (55" and 65")
Why have two different Master Series A9 models in one year, when the A9S could have been considered the smaller size A9H? And, so far, it's difficult to discern many differences between the A8H and A85/A87/A89, they even come in the same sizes...

And, of course, the LCDs. Is it necessary to have an X80H, X81H and X85H? Or X70H and X75H?

The way they introduced the X950G as the "big brother" to the X900F last year, and now this year decided to bump the 900 series down a level, making the X900H the successor to the X850G while the X950H is the combined replacement for both the X950G and X900F has also caused some confusion.

They could definitely clean things up a bit.

For the USA we have the following Sony 2020 series:

4K LCD/LED:

- X750H, 55", 65" and 75"

- X800H, 43", 49", 55", 65", 75" and 85"

- X900H, 55", 65", 75" and 85"

- X950H, 49", 55", 65", 75" and 85"

8K LCD/LED

- Z9G 98" carry over

- Z9H, 75" and 85"

OLED series:

- A8H, 55" and 65"

- A9H, 48", 55", 65" and 77" (Note, the 48" is the A9H series, but Sony is using the "S" designation to indicate the new small OLED screen size.)

I don't think it's too many series/models. In fact, I wish Sony would have 8K OLED.

I have all of the estimated launch dates and SURE selling prices. Luckily, we are included in the 1st allocations.

Ah, so the A9H will come in 77" as well? I'd only seen 55" and 65" leaked/rumored, but that's good for those who want it in 77".

I still think they should just refer to the A9S as A9H if that's the intention, though. But using S for 'small' is kind of cute in a way.

The 2020 X950H series. For the 49" and 85" X950H we're expecting the first allocation to be available mid February. 55", 65" and 75" mid April.

Here's some of the advantages that the 2020 X950H has vs. the current X950G series:

- New LCD/LED panel, but at this time I do not have any information on the new display module.

- Acoustic Auto Calibration.

- Improved built-in audio with the high frequencies enhanced by modulating the TVs aluminum frame.

- Slim wall-mount compatible.

- Two position stand so you can position the feet inward for use with smaller cabinets or personal design look.

Plus, of course, X-Wide Angle on all sizes except 49". Which is either a positive or negative depending on who you ask.

Should be mentioned it's the refined 2019 version of X-Wide Angle, which is supposed to affect native contrast a bit less than it did on the Z9F. How much of an improvement it is I don't know, because I haven't seen measurements of how they compare, nor have I seen any of these TVs in person. It's what Sony say, though.
