Watched this for the first time earlier this year. Didn't release it didn't have a US Blu-ray release before now.

This is great news.

Rather impressed with special features on this release.

Especially the isolate soundtrack.

Wow, I haven’t been this excited for a Criterion release in years. Amazing film, one of the best film scores of the decade, and a great performance from Forest Whitaker. Definite day one purchase for me.

Announcing this hitman movie together with The Irishman feels like a subtle joke, especially after watching the clip on the Criterion page where a bunch of old wise guys express their condolence to another guy, saying "sorry about Frank."

Ghost Dog, finally. This will make the sixth Jarmusch film released by Criterion.

7 if you count Permanent Vacation. And they're rumored to have Coffee and Cigarettes, too. Safe to say they love them some Jimmy J.

Looks like I'm going to have to splurge and pay that $40+ for this release.... Great film.

Oh, that's right. Yes I do count Permanent Vacation which I think is criminally underrated
overlooked and unacknowledged. It deserves its own release instead of being buried in
the supplements. I view that film as Jarmusch's riff on Catcher In the Rye. Hope you're
right about Coffee and Cigarettes and that Criterion doesn't wait too long.

It is just me or is Criterion starting to put the actors names on cover art of the releases with this and The Irishman?

My only complaint is that the cover could have been better.

Day 1. Might even pay Amazon price instead of BN

It's just you. Not the first time at all.

This is great news. I haven't watched this film in such a long time I forgot it existed. Looking forward to revisiting it soon.

And I think this means Jarmusch is done for blu now since Kino got Broken Flowers, Arrow has Limits of Control, Only Lovers Left Alive is at Sony and both Paterson and Dead Don't Die lie with Universal.
I don't see Gimme Danger getting a release.
And We'll have to wait for C&C at some point. But this great news and I can't wait for this film.

This has one of my favorite soundtracks for any film ever. What an awesome, surprising release.

Yeah other than his music docs (he did a Neil Young one too) he should be caught up. I believe Olive's release of Coffee and Cigarettes is now OOP but he said in the same interview that mentioned Criterion having Ghost Dog that they also had C&C.

Its obvious C&C was less of a priority for them. They knew people wanted Ghost Dog first.
The Olive release of C&C wasn't too bad. I'm happy to own it but once it gets a Criterion make-over out it goes.

I agree, but in light of the horrible caricatures they’ve been doing, it could have been worse.

I think the cover is meant to match the simplicity of the original poster art.
