Thanks!

Strange to see only 3 of the films getting a 4K remaster but it's still good to see Kadokawa giving more leeway to Arrow (especially compared to the way Toho treated Criterion for their Godzilla set).

Not sure it would've mattered. I'm convinced that the person whose job it is to be a d!ck about Godzilla stuff was out the day Criterion got Toho to re-scan the original film for their first release.

I do wonder what the Showa film will look like since they might be the same scan as the Mill Creek Blu-rays. Although it will certainly look better because it won't be 4 films on one disc.

Just how many more times in my life am I going to binge through all of the Gamera films back-to-back?

But this release will probably be the be-all end-all edition, sans MST3K versions.
Actually, considering how Shout Factory usually includes the MST3K version as a bonus feature when they release one of those films, maybe they should make a deal with Arrow to include them since the DVD set is OOP and Shout is probably never going to get the rights back. They did it for Film Detective's release of Eegah.

LOL well i bought these on VHS then the Neptune releases for the first couple of films again on VHS. then the crap quality DVD releases. then the somewhat better DVDs of Return Of The Giant Monsters (Gamera vs Gaos) and Destroy All Planets (Gamera vs Guiron) as well as the Elvira version of Gamera Super Monster. Tehn the Shout releases on DVD. of course had to get the Mill Creek blu-ray releases as well. so is say the same thing now do i really need the Arrow release? of course i'll break down and get it eventually
just like i always do. tough to be a fan for sure. already been through 3 releases of the 90s titles to on VHS, DVD and Blu.

they know we will which is why they keep releasing the same titles over and over but catch us on the "hey it's better quality" of look a shiny new special feature
Showa films: Celebrity's "Just For Kids" VHS, Neptune Media VHS, both Japanese R2 DVD box sets (4 movies each; one came w/ a figure, the other w/ a box big enough for all 8), various (crappy) Retromedia and Alpha Video DVDs, Shout! Factory DVDs, MST3K DVD set, Mill Creek BDs.

Heisei trilogy: Subtitled bootleg VHS, ADV GotU VHS, two slightly different ADV DVD trilogy box sets, Japanese R2 box set, Mill Creek stand-alone BDs (2), Mill Creek BD trilogy.

The Brave: Subtitled HK R3 DVD, Media Blasters DVD, Media Blasters BD. I also have a Japanese promo / preview DVD with interviews, trailers, etc.

I'm damn sure not throwing in the towel now. The Arrow set will be mine!

Hoping for: Subtitled versions. Uncut dubbed versions. Alternate Sandy Frank title sequences. Gammera: The Invincible. All previous Japanese and American extras. Plus whatever new extras they come up with.

Is it too soon to hope Arrow gets the Daimajin and Yokai films as well?

That was because Barnes & Noble have a very popular, regular, biannual 50% off Criterion sale. (And other retailers matched their price.) I don't know if the same is true for Arrow.

Not a big fan of the whole Gamera shtick but a Daimajin set would be pretty great. And a Yokai film collection would be mind blowing

I'm pleased with the MC Daimaijin set, but with them being OOP, it'd be great for Arrow to get them.

Arrow releases usually drop around 30% by release date. This will probably be about $130.

The French label Le Chat has the trilogy coming out in a month or two-no English subs,

Hopefully, another label will release them, English friendly.

Yeah, I would love a Yokai film collection with the original three films as well as the remake done by Takashi Miike.

I'm down for the Gamera set, but unlike Godzilla, I'm not sure I will get this on Day 1. The price is fine, I just don't want to spend that much for a set where I only care about 5 films in total. However, getting the Dark Horse 4 issue series again will be nice since the copies I had were part of my collection my brother stole to sell for drug money. That alone might entice me to get the set right away.

It would be a cool bonus feature to include the short 50th Anniversary CGI 4 minute short film.

Easily could be the release of the year (Although the 4K of Dawn of the Dead could bring some tough competition, I'll have to wait until we get more details about both) Easy instant pre order for both, damn it feels good to be a kaiju fan right now.
