Jackie might know his way around an action scene, but he was never a good director with the other stuff and the first Armour of God has SO MUCH other stuff.
I bought the UK disc a few years ago because I remember liking the film in the 90's. Man, what the hell was I smoking back then? There are some good fight scenes, but the film never really works. It is padded beyond belief and it is just boring. I completely agree with you. It is amazing how bad that film is and how good the sequel is.

Sneaking suspicion that Eureka will release the first Armour Of God.

Along with the Martial Arts films I really do hope we get see some Swordplay and Heroic Bloodshed flicks released this year, stuff like Swordsman Trilogy, Ringo Lam's On Fire films, Chinease Ghost Story Trilogy, Rich and Famous/Tragic Hero, Tsui Hark Films, Tiger On The Beat, Moon Warriors, The Big Heat, Saviour Of The Soul, Bride With The White Hair 1&2 and hell I'll even take that rare buddy cop action flick Curry & Pepper!!!!

Odd how it's just the second one, curious if they'll do the first one as well or if Eureka will do it (if at all). Still, bring it on!

Works perfectly for me. An absolute classic. Awesome soundtrack songs too. The original English dub with the Lorelei song at the end is my fave way to watch.

I wounder what's going to happen with the first Armour of God, the Medium Rare blu-ray seems to be out of print. Oh well I have the Hong Kong Rescue blu-ray so that should keep me more than satisfied until a good official release comes out.

Who says my tease was only about one movie? Or that AOG2's release won't have some surprises in store All I can say for now is that Fortune Star is going to keep us entertained for a while...

In the immortal words of KC and the Sunshine Band, that’s the way I like it.

And now THAT'S stuck in my head, lol.

I've always been amused by the fact that this film has essentially had 4 variations of an end theme: Flight of the Dragon ("High Up On High") and Lorelei, both in Cantonese and English... although I think the rarest variation is the Cantonese version of Flight of the Dragon. Not even sure which release had that... Malaysian? Singapore? The HK Cantonese typically has Lorelei from my experience.

In my area of the U.S., Rumble in the Bronx was his breakthrough film in the theatres and everyone was ‘wow!’ That film was awesome on the big screen. Never big on the rush hour films, they are basically 50% Hollywood, 25% Chan and 25% Chris Tucker. I prefer my Jackie Chan films 100% non-watered down Hollywood and 100% Chan and his director pals

I thought Supercop has a 4k scanned Hong Kong release with English subs? Is that one not good?
