Obviously the $999 price is an error, this has happened before with some other titles on their site when they first put them up for pre-order, which was rectified after a day or 2.

It's listed as being a 7 disc collection on the cover and in the product description:

IMG_20200520_012938.jpg

Chapters 1-10 in the original U.S. collection were spread over 7 discs.

I'll send Universal Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Australia an email tomorrow to confirm the disc count, and whether it will be an 8 or 10 movie collection.

Just received a reply from Universal Sony customer service... The 7th disc in the set is the 2009 Friday the 13th movie. Jason Goes to Hell, and Jason X are not included.

I have a feeling this will include Parts 1-8 plus the 2009 Remake. The R classification matches the description of the classification of the remake.

The recent Paramount US set has Part 1-4 on seperate discs and 5-6, 7-8 split over 2 discs.

Wake me up when someone releases Jason Goes To Hell and Jason X properly (ie not some poxy barebones 2-in-1 with the R-rated cut of JGTH).

I'd assume Roadshow still has the rights to 9 and 10.

Aside from including the remake, nope. I'd expect a direct port, as per Paramount standard.

I still have 3 of the original U.S. set, I probably should get rid of 2 of them (the discs are a bit scratched though, which is why I have 3 of them):

IMG20200520123054.jpg

They don't have a spine, so I just made one for the best condition set, I cut out the title from the instructions of the iron on patch:

IMG20200520123618.jpg

Because of the scratched discs in these sets, I also picked up these individual double packs (I have individual releases for 1-3, Friday the 13th 2009, and Freddy vs Jason too):

IMG20200520123418_01.jpg

Depending on how it's packaged, I might pick up this upcoming local collection, to save some space on my shelves.

Based on the info that the local distributor provided, it appears so... When someone buy's it, hopefully they confirm it:

It is 9 movies 2 discs have 2 movies on the one disc, below is the title per disc breakdown;

DISC 1 Friday the 13th (1980)

DISC 2 Friday the 13th Part 2

DISC 3 Friday the 13th Part III

DISC 4 Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter

DISC 5 (2 Movies on one disc) Friday the 13th: A New Beginning & Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives

DISC 6 (2 Movies on one disc) Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood & Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan

DISC 7 Friday the 13th (2009)

There are 3 movies from the franchise that will not be in this pack in case that is of any interest:

Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993)

Jason X (2002)

Freddy vs. Jason (2003)

Good luck trying to get one. It seems that Jason X and JGTH will be stuck in legal limbo just like Weisteins films like Dogma where rights issues and legal issues means these films prob wont ever get rereleased if not at least anytime soon.

Thats a shame. If the last three films have are not included. As they never got a release here or if they did they are long out of print. Makes this an incomplete set. They should have at least included the Final Friday instead of the 2009 remake of the first films. Which isn't that great.

Wonder if they will include the existing releases of the first three films or new remasters? With the first film getting both a theatrical and extended release.

Still good to have these finally on Blu-ray. As its been almost 2 years since I watched these when SBS Viceland played the first eight Friday the 13th movies on TV back in July 2018.

That is a steep price. I think I paid about $40 for the 8 film collection on WowHD and the remake Blu-ray really cheap years ago.

I expect the first will be a port of Waners BD release like the UK boxset. I wish that Uni Sony would somehow get the rights to Jason X and Jason goes to hell. Those 2 might just make the $90 price tag worth it

That would be a shame, the US disc is far better.

Loved these as a horror-addicted youngster.

Find them very difficult to watch as an adult, lol. Unless they have cult value or significance, arguably like the first Friday the 13th film.
