They are almost feather weight.

They are equal in weight to say the new Sony Golds.

The 185 series improved & replaced the previous line up 5 years ago. I had the previous ones but can’t remember which name they were given but do remember them being even lighter.

I’m seriously thinking of getting another 185 set. (Headset & Base) before the price goes up too high. They are already $150 more now then when they launched 5 years ago.

Honestly, there's some really amazing Home Theatres i've seen in the gallery and it's nice i think that we can have a place where all sorts of people from "Average Joes" to millionaires can literally chill out and kickback over normal stuff we all love like movies, games etc.

Plus, i do envy (in a non-jealous) way those people who can afford to kinda get what they want when they want. Hell, i mean if i was a millionaire by luck, hard work etc. i'd like to still think i'd be the same person. Just able to have nicer things.

Derb, all the best bud on this headset secret millionaire or not.

lol

Thanks for the pressure.

I thought what is better than having a Sennheiser RS 185 headset?

A second one that is brand new in box as a backup for the future.

Honestly, i know it's not exactly the same but when my USB sound card broke for my official PlayStation headset, i just didn't realise how much i wished i'd kept an eye out for them on clearance. The shipping for my replacement assuming it isn't a fake hopefully is like 3-4 weeks away minimum it seems and it makes a big difference.

I've never tried wireless headsets but i'd imagine Sennheiser know a thing or two about making them the best.

Shipping is a bit concerning during these strange times.

That’s why I went with the 175 instead of 185 because only 3rd party sellers are selling the 185 & actually it’s just one store which claims they have 10 of them.

I’m not missing out on any features with the 175.

You’d be correct sir,

Sennheiser Headsets like the one I bought uses 2.8ghz frequency band to avoid the common 2.4ghz band most other devices use.

Well, shipping is certainly weird. Ordered something from the USA on Friday evening UK time, and they shipped it over the weekend and here by Monday. Quicker than anything i've even had domestically lol.

The headset is also from the USA but they quoted 3-4 weeks.

Got the headset today. Wanted to see what is the difference between my 185’s & the 175 I just got.

https://versus.com/en/sennheiser-rs-...nheiser-rs-185

Just about everything they compare is completely wrong. Holy crap. They got the closed back & sound pressure level correct. Everything else in this comparison is false.

Edit

Have a more respect for RTings now.

https://www.rtings.com/headphones/to...rs-185/448/452

Sorry OT.

Hope you don't mind me saying Derb but both of those scored really low it seems. Think you could maybe return the one's you bought and trust Rtings to kinda guide you to a much better gaming headset. Especially for the sorta money you seem to have spent.

Apologies if i sound dictatorial on it but i didn't realise they scored in the 5/10s for mixed usage. Surprised even.

You mean the RT ratings?

They basically wrote what I expected. The 185’s sound quality & headband durability are slightly better than the 175’s I bought. Bass boost on the 175’s + being closed-back make the sound louder than the 185’s with minimal leakage.

As for their scores. That’s there deal.

I know from experience what Sennheiser delivers. The goods!

I was more shocked that a website called “versus” got just about everything wrong in their comparison. Even claiming the 175’s are not wireless. lol

Well as long as you are happy with what you hear, that's the main thing. Tbh, for me, it's hopefully only a matter of time before we see how the new headset stacks up for PS5 audio.

Damn, that brings back old memories.

Just goes to show how great the 185’s are. I also ordered more replacement ear pads. The good thing about the 65-95 line-up is you can swap out the leatherette ear pads for the cushion ones. They all have the same dimensions.

I’ve been going back & forth with the 185’s I have & the Sony Platinum’s. The Plats still feel Uncomfortable after 2-3 hours. Probably because they weigh 4 times as much.

Oh I have interest.

Looking at them from the reveal, I’d bet the quality of them is better than the new Sony Golds, but not the Sony Platinums. They also look much more comfortable than the Platinums & Golds, hence the interest.

Am in no rush to get them. Maybe if my Sony Golds crap out or my headband breaks on my Plats.. again. I’ll think about it.

Edit

Am more interested to find out if the DS5 will have better battery life.

I recently got myself a "surround" headset for late night gaming sessions as well as movie watching.

Though with the PS4 the issue remains if I have it in the bedroom. I may not hear it myself with my headphones on, but my girlfriend does when she's trying to get some sleep.

So the PS4 still needs to be in the hallway anyway.

I honestly think the HyperX Cloud IIs are one of the comfiest headsets i've had but i'm a weirdo so only when properly playing a game or movie will i keep them on my head as you're supposed to. That could be because i'm distracted by playing on my phone at the time

That said, the first HyperX headset i had, the leather ear cups would feel a little hot and not helpful when my room happens to he a sauna thanks to a 50" Plasma from 2010. The helpful solution to help seemed to be the fabric ear pads and i've run them since i got my HyperX Cloud IIs.

I know the Gold and Silver headsets have been a bit awful for comfort but the sound quality for the price is amazing.

Yeah, that can be really annoying and tbh hopeful the PS5 lives up to the promise of running cooler and more silent. The Pulse 3D audio headset, if that's a replacement for the Sony Gold headset, that would be awesome if they're at the same price as come sale time, they'll be great at the discount price.

To answer the OP question; no, I'm not sure there will be a "Pro" version of the PS5. I don't know why so many people think that having done it once, it's now the norm.

There will almost certainly be a redesign in it's life at some point, but I don't expect to see an enhanced model this time. PS4 Pro exists to better support 4K tv's, that's pretty much it and we already know PS5 has been designed to output to 8K tv's, so what would be the point of a PS5 Pro?

Surely it's easier and cheaper for Sony to have a single console to support and for developers to work on over the next 5-6 years? It's better for gamers too.
