But the Hobbit extended cuts are better, especially #3.
Considering that a full text adaptation of The Hobbit was produced for radio with the entire story taking 4 hours, i'd love to see a 2 film cut-down version of Jackson's trilogy with all of the filler ripped out. Sometimes Less Is More.

And Blade Runner The Final Cut is absolutely perfect.

I love the Special Edition of T2 and Aliens but I'll go for Blade Runner The Final Cut.

Many good choices here but the most transformative of all has to be Once Upon a Time in America.

The original American theatrical cut ripped out about 40% of Leone's film and rearranged what was left in chronological order, obliterating the structure and the logic of the film.

The longer cuts (of which there are several, including the second American theatrical version which was also the one originally released in other parts of the world) are masterpieces, although which is the very best cut is debatable.

Blackhat

The one-time airing on FX network that has since disappeared from the world and can no longer be seen by anyone anywhere for any reason.

The only Cameron film that isn't the Theatrical Cut that he prefers for sure is the Special Edition version of The Abyss. Possibly the CBS cut of Aliens which has most of the extra scenes, except the colonists and Newt's family. He regretted cutting Ripley finding out about her daughter.

He just sees the Special Editions as "Special Editions" mostly for anyone interested in seeing the extra scenes. He has never called them Director's Cuts.

Blade Runner The Final Cut is my all time favorite film with Gilliam's cut of Brazil as my second. I always do a double feature of both film whenever I watch them.

I'm assuming this thread is about extended/Alternate cuts, even if the director says the theatrical is the "Director's cut"

Alien/Aliens/Alien3
Step Brothers
The exorcist

I'm sure more will come to mind

He's made similar statements about the Extended cuts though. In the Return of the King commentary he says he was glad to be able to be able to have
[Show spoiler]Saruman's death
back in the Extended cut, and he believes they'll be seen as the definitive versions.

In the sense that they will be the most watched by people in the long run, not in the sense that they are his director's cuts.

Little Shop of Horrors (1986)

I prefer the dark ending, the way it was originally written.

I like the two alternate Planet of the Apes films... Conquest I like both versions, Battle I can't watch the theatrical version... without the bomb footage it is as bad as everyone says... with bomb footage it gives it a little weight...
