This is one of the few horror films I watched in my 20's that absolutely terrified me. Very frightening concept and images. I also love Sam Neill's performance as Dr. Weirr… as much as I'd love a director's cut, I doubt it'll happen.

They already had all the footage filmed, they just had to finish the effects.

The deleted footage for Event Horizon, on the other hand, isn't recoverable as it's severely damaged.

I certainly wouldn't say it sucks. I think it's pretty awesome. But I agree the original poster art with the ship (the one you posted, not the one with the floating heads) is amazing. I wish they had incorporated the image of the ship somewhere in the new art. I'll be skipping the poster anyways since I've had too many issues with their crumpled posters in the past.

It will be great to finally have it in the correct geometry, not vertically squished in.

This one seriously freaked me out when I saw it with my friend in the theatre. It freaked him out too.

I watched it on VHS as a boy (probably in 1999), and didn't like it. But if there's one Paul W.S. Anderson movie to revisit, this is it. I'll probably grab it further down the line.

Reverse slipcase? How does that work? Is it made of something other than cardboard, otherwise how can you reverse and hide the hideous 5-year-old-child interpretation of a Star Trek episode they slapped in front of it?

It just sounds like the back of the slip cover has alternate artwork.

Maybe the slipcase opens/closes using a velcro tab or something?

That would make the most sense. I don't know why they don't always do that. We don't need text on the back of the slipcase - you can have that on the back of the case.

Never bought this one Blu-ray, so I'll be getting this for sure. Haven't rewatched it in nearly 20 years.

Sorry to dash any hopes.
What is missing footage doing in a salt mine ?

My guess is they are referring to the artwork for the actual case. All the Shout Factory collectors editions have the original artwork on the reverse side.

Film negatives are frequently stored in salt mines because they are less likely to deteriorate. The air quality? I can't recall exactly the reason.

I recall liking this movie. I don't currently own it but seem to remember having a previous release (DVD?) that had some major geometric distortion throughout the film as though one was trying to watch an anamorphic title on an old 4:3 TV..
I'm sure this new scan will be the best it can look. I never care about box art but that newly commissioned one is all kinds of wrong compared to the original poster..
