I've try to watch the first three seasons of Game of Thrones (to see what the big deal was) and then I stopped. I couldn't get into it. Maybe because I'm not a big medieval fan I don't know, but it just didn't peak my interest at all. The sex and nudity was gratuitous and of coarse the producers had to throw it in to keep the viewers watching, but not me. Is this what people are praising and falling head over heels over? Please!

The grit and grime of Deadwood would be great on 4k blu too. Can't wait to pick this one up though.

Now, if you can do that for Zorro, I'd be very happy ![]() |

No, there are some scenes in s1 on UHD, that were filtered to the point of erasing skin detail on characters. Maybe it's encoding error or whatever... I'm in no rush to buy a flawed release. There are obvious gains on UHD - shadows, lights, encoding, bump in detail. And it's worth buying the set for that, but I'll probably wait if selective filtering is spread across the series. Or there are some other nasty surprises.

I think for HBO shows I will relinquish my long-held 4K UHD protocol of only individual releases. As GOT and any others will likely only be in full series boxsets. Gotta adapt or die, as Billy Bean mused; written via Aaron Sorkin. |

Original aspect ratio. There's so much cropped in widescreen. Almost every shot. I'm sure none of the shows listed on this page will come to UHD anyway, though.

"And even with our best resizing, touchups and maneuver, there are some things that are simply not as good. That’s the inevitability: This new version, after all, exists in an aspect ratio that simply wasn’t intended or serviced by the filmmakers." I did a comparison of one episode here: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=1837 If the DVD versions didn't look so crappy even for DVD, I'd watch those again. |

Great news, but I already double dipped on GoT (the individual Blu-Ray seasons and later the Limited Complete Series + season 1 and season 8 in 4k), so I'm not sure I'd be able to justify this. We're buying a house and moving this fall, so that doesn't help
