Probably not forced, all my earlier Studio Canal blu-ray versions of 3 Days of the Condor (or other Studio Canal blu-ray titles that I bought either in Germany, France or The Netherlands) are always the same pan-european discs with different sub options. For what it's worth Amazon.fr and FNAC both list a choice of French or English subtitles for this UHD. I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of other sub options (dutch?) will be there as well.

Loving that the color looks good a couple things stand out... but not sure what if it is an issue or not.
Looks like the 4K is missing detail of bricks but could it be just the grab itself and that fact HDR etc isn't applied? https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=1&x...7&l=0&i=2&go=1 Notice the blue background the color/ compression looks more amplified on the 4K https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=1&x...7&l=0&i=2&go=1 Overall I think I am pleased. I already have a copy of the French 4K on the way I'd guess the disc compression etc should be Identical to the German 4K |

Caps look very nice. It would appear that the transfer has a much more moody and atmospheric look now, which seems appropriate (and, I would assume, more accurate). Looking forward to revisiting the film; haven't seen it in years.

https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=2&x...7&l=0&i=2&go=1 Is there any notable difference between the mastering of the German and French versions? |

As for the bricks, this is indeed an SDR conversion so it may be missing something in the bright portions of the image but the compression also looks like it's doing something weird, so it could be a bit of both. |

Regarding the bricks it looks to me like it's the compression of the highlights crapping out as per usual, but it may well be alleviated to a good degree by the DV FEL.
This is going in the same cream+cyan direction as Serpico but looks slightly more balanced and less drenched. |

Remaster looks great to me!
Although “Paranoia Cinema of the 70s” is only 19 minutes long. Shame when the other releases had over an hour’s worth of extras https://www.leinwandreporter.com/202...ondor-blu-ray/ Apparently Panasonic players don’t like the discs because of Dolby Vision (the Google Translate option seems pretty hopeless though)? http://bluraydefectueux.com/2020/11/...l-un-probleme/ Last edited by CelestialAgent; 11-21-2020 at 01:42 AM. |
