Actually I must revise the comment about the standard set looking like a bad Photoshop. It's an okay job, better than the Blu Ray release at least. No- I was actually looking at the steelbook outer sleeve in horror, which is the Photoshop botch job of nightmares.

Gotta say also by the way that clear holder for the hoverboard appears bigger than the box by the scale of the photo display released by Universal. I assume it'll fit fine and won't be a monster relative to the standard set inside.

I never buy amazon, but I do like the 4K Hoverboard edition.

If there's a non-LE version that comes in a regular Blu-ray case, I'll pick it up to replace the Digibook I have as part of the bulky "Complete Adventures" Flux capacitor box set I got for Christmas a few years ago. I've already got a full-size Hoverboard replica, so I don't need that mini one. Running out of space for little trinkets like that as it is.

I have the second pressing of the 6 disc 25th anniversary set (where the disc trays actually had buttons for both discs, instead of those horrendous clips). So I'll just buy this set and put them in the way better case I have. I'm so happy Universal is putting the remasters on standard Blu-ray (in its own release).

Plus these discs will finally give the films a proper MPEG-4 encode, instead of the outdated VC-1 they use to be. So that's also another improvement right there.

Still a Digibook but at least it has a case to slide into. Looks similar to the Indiana Jones set. That won't be too bad then.

Still wish for the popular digipaks of the DVD era with nice hubs. They could include a booklet if they need to have information. Have the Delorean fire trail stretching across the panels. The back panels could have other art. Hate this type of package, it’s the worst type of packaging period, I immediately take the discs out and put them into regular cases.

The coverart is sloppy, makes it seem like the person who did it wasn't much of a fan & doesn't know how to blend the material together properly - looks very rushed :/ Would much prefer the original artwork but I doubt that's going to change. Reminds me of the Starship Troopers release

Aside from that it'll be interested to see the 4K differences but locally its AU$90 which seems a bit high for a trilogy despite its extras

Hmm,I don't usually double dip but Back To The Future is one of my favorite series and I have the 25th anniversary release from 2010 but as has been discussed over the years, the packaging for this release was terrible in regards to getting the disks in and out.I ended up damaging a disk and fear damaging others when I try to get them out.

I was debating getting the 30th anniversary set when it came out in 2015 but had too many other new releases to spend money on a double dip even with the damaged disk.

But I think I might get the Target version of this 35th anniversary.I don't need the 4k disks so this version is perfect.

1)I get a replacement for my damaged copy of Part 3
2)I know many don't like this sort of packaging but it's loads better than the 2010 release and I've got other releases with this sort of packaging and never had any damage to disks. So I have less fear dealing with this than to continue dealing with the 2010 set and damaging the other movies.
3)The hoverboard figurine is a nice touch and doesn't look too big.
4)I get the bonus disk with the new bonus features for the 35th anniversary AND I get the bonus material for the 30th anniversary which isn't on the 2010 25th anniversary release.
5)There isn't as many new releases coming out in the August-November window right now for me due to the virus halting movies so I have the extra money right now. Most of what I want in the fall period,I've already pre-ordered except for Star Trek Picard Season 1 so now would be the best time to double dip on something like this.

So I think this might be worthwhile for me to double dip on this series.

Thankfully those digipacks never went away here with Blu-ray and UHD sets in the packaging you describe and looks like the UK release of Back to the Future will also follow suit.

Another reason to double dip is because the movies are finally remastered and will have a superior MPEG-4 encode (instead of the outdated VC-1 transfers of the previous releases).

Something I should also point out that the U-Control features from the original 2010 discs have been removed (this was a PIP feature Universal used on their earlier Blu-ray releases), which might be further proof that this new boxset will likely not be repressings of the old discs.

There doesn't need to be "further proof"; the new remasters alone definitively confirmed that these wouldn't be old discs in new packaging.

Target has the 4K regular edition on sale right now for $42.99. Was gonna do the BBY steelbook but this is just too good of a price to pass up. Seems like an error on their part but who knows?

** Plus the Buy One Get One 50% off applies too

I’m really torn between the Target edition price and BB steelbooks. The Target price is great but really don’t like the sleeves packaging.

Not really a fan of the sleeves either but the art on those steels...

The Target 30th Steel looked a lot better (and that wasn't great)

Thankfully, I already had a custom cover made for that hideously bulky Blu set that was impossible to remove the discs from without practically breaking them in half, so I can just swap the 4K discs out into that.

I think just movies according to the site. I grabbed this and the Criterion edition of Bamboozled for $61 shipped. Very happy with this sale price.
