Lol Wii U was not a great system. A great system has a balance of great 1st and 3rd party support. Wii U had virtually zero 3rd party support. With the advent of Switch, Nintendo has essentially rendered Wii U completely redundant as they have ported nearly every major Wii U title over to the Switch or released better sequels (Splatoon, Smash Bros, etc). Zelda Windwaker HD is about the only one left to be ported and I'm sure that's coming.

Yeah I haven't given a crap about third party support on Nintendo platforms from the N64 on. I buy them for Nintendo games, and now sometimes indies as retro-styled games are more palatable to me on a handheld than blown up on a big TV.
Otherwise, third party games I'm buying on one of the more powerful consoles or PC anyway so I couldn't care less if they get ports to Nintendo hardware or not. I'd never have Nintendo as my only console, but that's true of the other ones as well. I love games and need all the consoles to not miss exclusives. PC I've learned I can live without as most of the exclusives these days just aren't in genres I enjoy now that most indies come to consoles. |

It’s surprisingly easy from what I understand. Most people already use an Android or iPhone so the only cost is the NFC Tags. You need specific ones but they are about Ł7.99 for a pack of 30. Everything else is found online.
I don’t condone it of course. But when Amiibos sell out so fast and features are locked behind them it’s no surprise it happens. |

Wii U got 2 Call of Duty games, meanwhile Switch got ZERO. Wii U got 2 Assassin's Creed games, which were back then new, meanwhile Switch got zero new Assassin's Creed games, only old ones ported to it. Wii U got 1 Watch_Dogs game, Switch got ZERO. Wii U got 2 Batman games, Switch got ZERO. I can go on. It's ridiculous to claim Wii U got no third party support, and that Switch would get it. Switch gets 10 year old games for the most part and indie games, which is nice in fact, but it didn't even get ONE Call of Duty game, which is ridiculous, not even a late port. Nothing. And when I compare the first party games, I really prefer the Wii U, because the Wii U got tons of brand new first party games. The Switch gets tons of ports of games that I already played, I don't care about these. I also do not pay for online multiplayer, so I remove all these games as well like Splatoon 2. Quote:
For example the Rayman game was 5 players on Wii U, while on Switch it's 4 players only. Same for NMBSU, one player was able to change the level itself on the fly, thanks to the lag-free 60 fps gamepad. That's gone, so in my opinion the Switch version loses gameplay and is not definitive at all. In Splatoon 1 you had the whole map on the gamepad all the time and you were able to jump instantly anywhere by the touch of the screen. That gameplay is completely lost now on Switch. It was instant and fast, perfect for Splatoon. Or take Mario Maker. Creating levels was in my opinion way faster on Wii U because of way better level editing controls. Or that drawing game, which also wasn't ported and probably never will be, because the so called "modern" touchscreen in Switch is shit when you want to draw something on it. That one was nice especially the Miiverse integration. Plus there are exclusives that can not get ported unless they get downgraded severely. For example ZombiU plays best and properly on Wii U, and the Wii U version has all sorts of features that were lost for the ports like online messages, competitive mode and of course the whole gamepad interaction. It was MADE for Wii U and designed specifically for it and it is actually awesome. I was surprised that Ubisoft made a superb hardcore game and I never expected that. Got it when it was dirt cheap to get. Granted, it was buggy at launch like most Ubisoft games are. Then there is Affordable Space Adventure, which can't get ported because you would destroy the game. Or let's go back to the Assassin's Creed games. I actually enjoyed these on Wii U because you were able to put the map and all the other UI crap on the gamepad and it was available all the time, meanwhile on all the other platforms you have to go to the map screen and for that wait seconds for it to load. I don't like that and in fact it was the first time I actually enjoyed playing these. Then there are games like Devil's Third, which I would LOVE to get ported simply for the fact that I LOVED the online multiplayer, it was awesome and it's a shame that Nintendo shut servers down so quickly, but I doubt they will. I hope that maybe fans get it back running somehow at some point. Some fans are already working on getting Miiverse back, which also was awesome and was completely scrapped by Nintendo after Iwata died. The drawings that users did on Miiverse were incredible. And on Switch that's not possible thanks to the shitty touchscreen (well if Nintendo actually cared anymore). Last I want to mention that on Wii U Nintendo still cared about software quality. On Switch they don't give a shit anymore. For example even their 3D Mario collection, which is 3 old Mario games that didn't receive a single patch on their original platforms, that one got 2 updates, because they quite obviously didn't properly playtest them anymore. Back then games were basically finished 6 months before release and thus were playtested tons of times. On Wii U there were almost no bugfixes, because the games simply were well tested. Xenoblade X on Wii U, another one that wasn't ported (yet), got a single tiny patch because of one single oversight, which is acceptable in my book. It's a vast open world game after all. Now look at Xenoblade 2, which got like 10 patches or something? Shitty software quality is not acceptable especially when the company still wants full price for their games. Just take a look at Super Mario 3D World which runs at a rock solid 60 fps on Wii U. And then take a look at the new content for Switch which runs at a horrible unstable crappy frame rate. It's ridiculous that they released it like that. I still enjoyed it, but the quality is laughable. And finally there is the whole Virtual Console and Wii backward compatibility. I can play basically every single Zelda game on Wii U. Switch lost all backward compatibility, no 3DS, no DS, no Wii U, no Wii, no nothing. And Virtual Console doesn't exist either. Now you got some silly subscription service, which I will never subscribe to because it's a rip off. I want to own games. Plus the fact that you could take Virtual Console purchases from Wii and upgrade them to a Wii U Virtual Console release, you still can and the upgrade was even optional. On Switch you have to buy everything again, meanwhile trolls said that the Wii would be shit because no account system. Iwata showed them, but sadly Iwata is gone. And it's laughable that they now lock that feature behind an Amiibo. They did similar things with Samus Returns on 3DS. Locked a difficulty setting, an art gallery and 2 more things behind 4 Amiibos. No download codes, nothing. There was a collectors edition, which was already expensive, but you didn't get these unlocks from there either. $60 on top please for basic features. Meanwhile you can unlock the 2 Amiibo unlocks for Star Fox Zero ALSO by simply unlocking them ingame by playing well. Unlocking them in game meanwhile having instant access via Amiibo would have been acceptable, but this is just shitty, and I will not buy it unless it's on some super sale, and even then I will have to think about it. |

You can complain a lot in regards of Skyward Sword, but the controls were fine and weren't waggle. Granted, these required an add-on for better accuracy, which the Wiimote lacked. Other games like Metroid Prime 1-3 and Pikmin 1-3 played way superior on Wii than on Gamecube thanks to the motion controls (primarily pointer controls, which are lost now, and have gotten inaccurate). Especially in these cases I would NEVER go back to "traditional" (inaccurate) controls. It's like wanting to play a light gun game using an analog stick controller.
