Well if that’s the basis for the argument, I’ve got bad news for you...neither are the aliens in science fiction films.

Which is another way of saying there is no sci-fi genre.

Fantasy films are films with fantastic themes, usually involving magic, supernatural events, incredible creatures, or exotic fantasy worlds. The genre is considered to be distinct from science fiction film and horror film.

Well I think the fiction part of science-fiction explains that away.

Sounds like you just described Guardians of the Galaxy.

I forgot Doctor Strange was in Ragnarok. Okay, maybe it is somewhat a fantasy.

Like I said earlier, "fiction" is in sci-if for a reason. The film Familiar Grounds never explains how the hell time-travel even works, doesn't mean it's magic though.

Yes, The Hobbit trilogy as well. Also Harry Potter if you count Hagrid being a giant dwarf (which he is).

Ah, **** it! We are arguing over universe where The Avengers and Fantastic Four are beloved, but mutants are a big no no. Nothing makes sense.

I'm only holding a conversation but you won't respond to the stuff I've brought up, so in return I'll do the same to you.

I don't know what else you want me to say. I mean, I did read it. Yeah it makes no sense, which is one I'm the reasons why I'm like, screw this.

Fair enough then. Let's close this discussion by agreeing to disagree. You think the Thor movies are sci-fi, and I think they are what their genres say: fantasy.

I see.

What would you consider sci-fi?

Well, it's called science fiction for a reason.

There is something I really want to say. But I don't want to turn this into a religion vs. science thread. What I am going to say is, a lot of these movies you mentioned play with God.

Really only 2012 does (maybe) and I was thinking of a different movie when I typed that. Change that one to The Day After Tomorrow. The others only have characters who are religious or agnostic. I pushed it a bit with Terminator since it has time travel (fantasy) but is at its core, science fiction. A lot of it is intent. Fantasy will never really happen, science fiction might.
