If you haven't been checking the UK forum, all the colored filters are gone from the Arrow edition of Versus. I guess it depends if you care about them or not, but none the less there's a lot of discussion about it in the UK thread

I can't believe it. None of the filters?! So all the creepy blue lighting that makes the forest seem otherworldly is not there? I've seen this film so many times over the years, including in the theater, and the color schemes are such an important part of the film's mood. I'm shocked this could happen. Up until recently I had no idea these types of filters were not a part of the original film elements and that they had to be added by the companies doing home video releases. I heard about it because some "night-time" filters were missing from a scene or two in some Hong Kong films. That's bad enough, but missing from an entire film?! How on Earth was this overlooked? |

Just got an email from Amazon with the new shipping dates:
New estimated delivery date: Saturday, December 19, 2020 - Sunday, December 20, 2020 I need to stop pre-ordering discs from Amazon. No shipping notice on Cinema Paradiso in 4K either yet. |

I highly suggest ordering your Arrow films from Bullmoose. Cheaper than Amazon, no tax, and you actually get the films a few days before release date. You just have to order over $35 to get free shipping. If anything just throw in a pre-order for another title in there and you're good.

Couldn't agree more with "DukeTogo84". I have been switching most of my orders over to Bullmoose. Today I received Versus and Cinema Paradiso 4K from them. Packaged in cardboard box with bubble wrap to insure no damage.

Could I be educated on Bullmoose? What's their history and quality of work?

No idea about their history, but their quality of their work is top notch. I've never had to return anything due to damage or wrong items sent. No lost packages either. They also ship early. Next week releases already shipped and I should have them Friday.

Question is how big is the print run for the extras? If I don't get the extras that the first print comes with then it's not really worth me keeping the order. What's the point in pre-ordering if it's not going to be a first run copy. Guess I'll be sending it back to Amazon if that's the case.

Was having the same problems with amazon as a few users here were stating so I called a really great record store that carries arrow video blu-rays and they had it! So I canceled my order on amazon and went there and got it.
And the transfer does look very good but i can confirm that the color filters for the scenes that had them are indeed gone. It didn't really ruin my enjoyment of the film overall but it did take some getting use to since I'm so used to the way those scenes looked on earlier home-video versions. Makes me wonder if that was the director's decision for this new remastered version or an oversight? can't imagine it would be that difficult to add a filter? Oh well, gives me a reason to hold onto my old Blu-ray. Also for those wondering about how Ultimate Versus looks, it's a combination of the HD Remastered footage and for the 'new"/revised footage it's upscaled SD Footage since i believe the new footage was shot that way which unfortunately makes the ultimate version look rather inconsistant as a whole. But what can you do there if thats the limitation of the source. |

I ordered mine through Bull Moose. I had enough points to get it at 50% off. I got sent an email on 12/5 that it was being prepared to ship. It didn't actually arrive at USPS until 12/9. I'll be lucky to have it by Friday and I live one state away from where they ship. I guess it's the price I pay for getting it at $12.99.

Watched me copy of versus today and really enjoyed it. Haven't ever seen this look good since i've always had the dvd and it was so soft looking. Watched the ultimate cut to see how the added footage looked on blu, was pleased with it. Though i couldn't tell if the added scenes ran at a different frame rate or something, as they seemed to be in slow motion or something. I also noticed a few times certain ultimate cut scenes had the filters. It really was different not seeing them on this version. I feel like they added a certain added mystery or extra level of atmosphere to the forest. Still happy to have this though. Only paid 10$ thanks to amazon credit.
