Well... There are indeed actual Christmas movies where the holiday is integral to the plot, then there are movies where Christmas time is merely the setting, backdrop, having no connection to the story whatsoever like Iron Man 3, Lethal Weapon, and of course Die Hard. Amongst the latter, I'd say its a matter of personal preference, no judgment called for. You want Shazam! to be a Christmas movie, then you rock it, brother.

For me if a movie takes place at Christmas or during the Christmas season the i would include it in my Christmas watch list.

Example, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension and Prometheus both take place during the Christmas season so for me they count as Christmas movies.

Other examples would include (i've refrained from including any of the obvious Shane Black ones)

Wild Card (the Statham one)
Getaway (Ethan Hawke)
Money Train
Peppermint
Red
Death Race (Statham one)
Run All Night
Why Him?
Just Friends
Go
In Bruges
While She Was Out
Wind Chill
P2
The Lodge
I Am Legend
The Pact

If it gives me Christmas vibes, it's a Christmas movie. So yeah, most Shane Black movies, Batman Returns, Die Hard and so forth are Christmas movies in my book. Whether it's "officially accepted" or not (by whom, Internet users? HA-HA), I couldn't care less.

Die Hard and Die Hard 2 both take place on Christmas Eve with plenty of Christmas imagery. I don't understand the argument against them being Christmas movies.

Hell, they're more Christmasy than It's a Wonderful Life.

I watched The Green Knight recently and didn't realize that was going to end up being a Christmas movie, either. A few times during the runtime I was thinking "Maybe I should add this to my Christmas movie rotation." Beautiful film.
