All he sees is a 55" TV for $1100 and a 55" TV for $520. That's an easy decision for him to make. It's the reason why LCD holds 98% of the worldwide market and OLED holds 2%.
That’s not how PS5 or Series X works.

I'm talking about the TV not the game console. Is a 120Hz TV a multiscan? Can it scan at both 60Hz and 120HZ or just at 120Hz?

120hz is a refresh rate, native to the panel. HDMI 2.1 allows for content to utilize more bandwidth and play at 4K/120fps. The irony though, is that means reduced graphical fidelity and resolution to be able to get those frames per second which defeats the purpose of next gen consoles in the first place. Also, games that target 120fps have more unstable framerate and most TV's when using VRR can't do HDR or have some other trade offs or quirks. So overall HDMI 2.1 is overrated and silly.

I'll stick with 4K/60 HDR and next gen graphics. Dynamic resolution and temporal anti-aliasing is so good these days that PS5 games are rock solid 60fps.

I purchased my C8 from Best Buy. I must ask the question, is a C8 purchased from Best Buy a different TV if it's purchased from Walmart?

Understood, but OLEDs are becoming throwaway TV's right now. So why not wait for Micro-LED instead of upgrading your OLED set every one to two years.

Not too long after I bought it they stopped carrying LG OLEDs. Guessing they weren't a big seller with Walmart's typical demographic. Not surprising given the cost.

Yes, they're different. My box had a small disclaimer in the bottom corner that says "Cheaper Walmart version, only for sale at Walmart/Sam's Club". It only outputs 3.5k video. Features HADR, half-assed dynamic range.

That and they are effectively trying to put Blu-ray out of business to become the main distributor of film's.

People hate Apple because they can’t afford Apple. Apple makes nice products. And nice things cost money. And that has a way of getting to people. Same people are also responsible for the death of physical media, because they’re lazy and cheap and want $5 discs. It’s all connected. This is why LCD TVs exist. This is why Wal-Marts exist.

I don't hate Apple because I cannot afford it. I could go out right now and buy an Apple product or two outright. I don't though because I find their product uninspiring. At least their phones anyway. I just upgraded my phone this month and was really tempted to switch back to Apple, but as usual, they haven't changed their interface since day one. It's the same ugly looking OS/interface and I cannot stand it. The phones look beautiful, but the insides are crap. So, I stuck with Samsung.

I don't find Apple products to be innovative or all that special. And YES, they are overpriced. A pair of their regular earbud headphones cost $50. They sound like crap and they have the gall to charge $50. I can get the same pair of crappy earbud headphones for $10. I know all too well about headphones, so Apple cannot pull a fast one on me. They are no more than silver-tongued fakes. They thought they were going to wipe out physical media for music and well, they failed to do that.

Well there is a lot of people that are videophiles and audiophiles that use Macs. I don't care if you want to be critical of iPhones or EarPods cost. Its their core product lines that are very versatile and safe. That is something that is under a transition right now going from intel to their own custom ARM processors adapted to run the MacOS. If your looking for innovation look there, not looking at those boring phones trying to be everything.

Now back to the OLED discussion.

Christ, not this again. No, they're not. No more so than any other major studio that has or will be launching its own streaming service, anyway. They would ALL gladly dump physical media tomorrow if they wouldn't lose a few billion simoleons overnight in the process. You guys have got to take off the tin foil hat sometimes, let the ol' noggin breathe for a while, you know?

So they totally created Apple TV not to be the dominate store front for media?

Hmm now you made wonder where did that term come from

Turns out its from author Aldous Huxley, who coined the concept in his 1927 work "The Tissue-Culture King":

Quote:
Well, we had discovered that metal was relatively impervious to the telepathic effect, and had prepared for ourselves a sort of tin pulpit, behind which we could stand while conducting experiments. This, combined with caps of metal foil, enormously reduced the effects on ourselves.

It has long been suspected that the government has been using satellites to read and control the minds of certain citizens. The use of aluminum helmets has been a common guerrilla tactic against the government's invasive tactics.

Is Amazon or Google any better, as well as others. Look Roku was originally Netflix's own set-top-box until they spun it away to survive on its own.

The difference as I see it is Apple is deliberately trying to target the enthusiast community. Top down, rather than the bottom to top approach from the others.

Just give it a few more year's, we shall see.
