Don't take this the wrong way with what I'm about to say. In a sense, InuYasha shaped my once generalized impressions on anime. It was my first anime that bored me to death, and ultimately wasn't obligated to see every single episode; not all anime is for everyone. That said, I was obligated to watch "The Final Act" in its fullest on Toonami.

I'm not committed to watch Yashahime, especially given the reception I read of it from you guys and elsewhere. I can barely tolerate most of InuYasha, and this sequel series is apparently that old show's bad qualities made worse? Yikes.

But I do wish to revisit the old dub's cast. What would be the episodes that highlight the past characters?

Yashahime is very rough at times, not gonna lie. There were certain points during the first season where I was very frustrated with it. But I'm hoping the second season gives it some redemption. I like Yashahime for what it is. I'm never going to turn down more InuYasha.

Episode 1, 13 and 15 are the episodes you'll want to watch for the original characters. 1 is adapting the special chapter from the manga which takes place after the series ends and sets up the daughters story. 13 focuses on Miroku with a cameo from Sango. This is the first time you'll hear Ian James Corlett as Miroku after Kirby Morrow's passing. Sesshomaru makes a handful of appearances throughout the series, primarily in the later episodes. David Kaye sounds exactly like he used to in the original series as the series progresses. It took him time to get back into the role but once he does it is perfect. Richard Ian Cox sounds a bit rough at times, to be fair he only had 2 episodes to get back into the role.

Honest opinion: I recommend watching episodes 1-4, 13, 15-16 and 20-24 and acting like the rest of Yashahime doesn't exist if you aren't all that invested in InuYasha/Yashahime as a whole. I suggest 16 because it reveals Moroha's backstory. If you don't care about this then you can skip it.

You're gonna have a lot of questions and I can seriously tell you that all of us do. Yashahime season 1 gave us more questions than answers. In the OST booklet the producers say that they were literally having weekly meetings about where to take the story - and it shows. That should give you a feel for what to expect lol.

Slightly unrelated but Yashahime is getting a manga:

"Yashahime Anime Gets Manga by Zettai Karen Children's Takashi Shiina - Manga adaptation of Inuyasha sequel launches September 25"

The official website for the Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon (Han'yō no Yasha Hime) anime spinoff of Rumiko Takahashi's Inuyasha series announced on Friday that the anime is inspiring a manga adaptation by Zettai Karen Children manga creator Takashi Shiina. The manga will launch in the November issue of Shogakukan's Shōnen Sunday S magazine on September 25. Shiina drew the illustration below to celebrate the announcement, which brings together the sister protagonists of Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon and the protagonists of Shiina's own Zettai Karen Children.

Hard to say. VIZ used to take 2-3 years to get a Blu-ray/DVD of a newer series out but the Yashahime dub has been finished for months. I feel like they'd want to get Season 1 out before Season 2 finishes airing at the very least, so maybe in spring? It'd be unusually fast for VIZ but anything is possible.

You know toonami isn’t doing that great if they have to have reruns of naruto shippuden and dragon ball super shows that ended a while ago. Only thing I’m still shocked to not see on there is any version of sailor moon at this point.

Counterpoint: they’re still both very popular shows that fans enjoy watching to this day regardless of they’re runs ending long ago.

Yeah but it’s reminding me of when they keep going back to the arrival of raditz ep of the ocean dub only at least that had a good reason. how long are they going to rerun the episodes until people get sick of both super and naruto shippuden and in super’s case it’s almost as hated or maybe more so than gt.

Naruto Shippuden episodes are still considered as “New” on Toonami and will be that way up till 2024 at their current pace. The reruns of Naruto Shippuden are outside of Toonami which is just the standard part of Adult Swim at 9 to 10PM and 4 to 5AM on Saturday.

So the actual reruns on Toonami don’t start till 2:30AM with Fena Pirate Princess.

Toonami’s Triple Episode Season 1 Finale that just aired only aired 2 new episodes Episodes 22 and 23. The Season Finale episode timeslot was a repeat of Episode 21 Secret Of The Rainbow Pearls. So unknown what Toonami is going to do about Episode 24 Sesshomaru's Daughter.

I know this is just like what happened with the Harley Quinn Season 1 Marathon and never airing its Season 1 Finale episode because of the error since that was just a 1 night only event to have that show on Toonami. But Yashahime is more likely to air the finale but have no idea when since Toonami is packing the schedule like next weekend is The Animatrix movie and then we have 2 Saturdays which are Holidays.
