Sticking with the Blu-Ray. Yikes no reason to upgrade once again.

As of this moment, you're on double secret probation.

I don't blame you because, there are certain movies I don't need to see in 4K UHD, and Animal House is one of them.

Is the title "Animal House" or "National Lampoon's Animal House"?

Is a lot of this forum people just trying to convince themselves they don’t need a 4k release? Reminds me of gamers and VR or gamers having one console and doing everything they can to convince themselves they don’t need the other one

I see we've reached the "UHD ain't worth it" status.

Animal House has been cranked off the production line with more disregard for a truly filmic presentation than the recent Blu-ray release of American Graffiti. Don't be fooled by the 1080p/VC-1 encoded transfer's graininess. While the presence of grain can be indicative of a faithful remaster, it can also easily be added or retained via artificial means after unnecessary applications of edge enhancement and noise reduction have taken their respective tolls. Alas, such is the case with Animal House. Not every fine texture has been wiped away, but smearing abounds; not every crisp edge is paired with a thick, white halo, but far too many shots are hindered by unsightly ringing to earn any sort of pass from me. Both EE and DNR are apparent throughout, and border on oppressive at times. It's rather obvious an older DVD-era master has been used to produce the new Blu-ray transfer, which is a real shame considering the film stands as one of the most universally beloved gross-out genre pics.
Don't know why anyone wouldn't want an upgrade to 4k.

I haven't seen this since the original DVD release (!). I was never a huge fan of the movie, but I would like to revisit especially since it's likely to be a massive improvement from the BD.

Of Animal House? no. Universal have thousands of other great movies that they could have chosen to release in 4K UHD besides Animal House. I liked and enjoyed the movie, but I don't necessarily have to see it in 4K UHD. Some movies I will buy in 4K and some of them I won't. I'm very selective when it comes to buying 4K UHD movies. I just don't buy anything just because it's in 4K.

Seriously. We’ve moved from a Universal which ruined almost every Blu-Ray release to a Universal that typically puts out some of the best 4K discs on the market. I think there’s quite an underestimation among some of you of how good this new upgrade is likely gonna be.

A well done 4K remaster of a film shot on 35mm will always be a big improvement. It doesn’t matter what genre it is. Only reason not to upgrade if you have a 4K player is if you don’t like the film

Animal House.

Possessive titles usually aren't recognised as the original titles, and are mainly for advertising purposes.

E.g. Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho or John Carpenter's Halloween.

National Lampoon is a brand name.

Think of it as more like National Lampoon presents...

I did some research after I asked the question, and it appears the title is always referenced as "National Lampoon's Animal House."

Why the hell don't labels release 4K steelbooks and standard 4k editions, simultaneously? Give everybody their choice all at once.

Because then they couldn't get you to buy it again when a steelbook does come out

You'll often see that - and other National Lampoon films - listed that way, but simply ANIMAL HOUSE is correct.

See also VACATION, EUROPEAN VACATION, etc.

Why 4k do some ask? Well just below Blazing Saddles it is the most popular American comedy of all time adjusted for inflation. Seems a no brainer to me.

https://www.filmsite.org/boxoffice3.html

To round out the popular trilogy Mad World is a must in 4K because of 65mm roots!!!

From the IMDb:

"Even though the 5.1 remix on the Blu-ray restores all the music omitted on one of the DVD releases, it also replaces many of the old sound effects like glass breaking, cans dropping on the ground, Bluto's spit sound in the cafeteria scene, and a few others."
