I stopped upgrading Lionsgate BDs. Improvements are marginal at best IMO.

hmmmmm.

unless the franchise gets full released with cool uniform covers (which is unlikely) I think I will wait for either a 4K boxset or hope Shout eventually releases a cool complete set. even if its just bluray it will be better than the current collection....

If Lionsgate is only releasing the first on physical, I wonder if they'll do what they did with the Twilight films and release the rest in 4K on digital.

It still annoys me that the Saw III directors cut is DVD only. Guess I’ll have to hold onto that.

I've held onto my DVD copy too, but it is at least available in 1080p on iTunes.

The Unrated cut of Saw II would need some work before it was ready for 4K. The extended bits of footage are currently 480p without proper color correction.

Given Lionsgate's history with sub-par filmout 4Ks(see Crank or Rambo 4), and the general look of this movie, I would not be surprised if this somehow ends up looking worse than the current BD.

Saw III Director's cut on Blu-Ray exists in France. You can upgrade your DVD.

The problem with that release is that it is region B locked. And before you say "go region free", I and many other people don't want to spend more money on a player just to play a foreign disc.

2 possibilities: They'll either do an excellent scan of the original 35mm negative, or a cruddy filmout from a 2K DI. I don't actually think Saw had a DI though, so hopefully it will indeed be a negative scan.

Saw was fully shot and finished on film. Saw II-VI were shot on film and finished with a DI.
