Oh this movie was so bad, I have eaten potato Chips with more IQ than the men in this movie. So stupid. Okay the original wasn't very intelligent but it was way more fun. At least the bodycount and the kills in the remake were okay

The copy I watched blurred out the guy's butt as he's walking to the shower. Please tell me that's not the real version.

I can immediately tell whenever someone over the age of 40 is writing teenage characters because they use very outdated slang or say things modern teenagers wouldn't. This movie has them saying "don't chicken out" and calling someone "kid sister." Nobody says those phrases anymore, screenwriter of this movie.

Is there a reason why these girls are driving a late '90s Chevy Suburban? Was that the only used vehicle they could afford to use in South Africa where they filmed this?

I'm not sure how many takes the cast were allowed. But one scene was very distracting whenever one of the female characters has a fly on her chest and is clearly seen hovering around her.

This group of young women have a plan but it's a terrible plan. They want to kill Russ but none of them think to bring a gun? Not even pepper spray? They have four forgettable weapons that they quickly lose. And they have no prior fighting skills. So their big monologue before going out to find the killer makes no sense.

This film has one of the worst final girls in recent memory. Every plan she has quickly fails and she only survives by pure luck, not by being smart or strong.

Random male characters are thrown in for a higher body count. One scene is so weird because a guy opens up a freezer to grab a beer and he doesn't even look inside. He just reaches around inside for one. Who the hell opens up a freezer without looking inside to find what you're looking for? Also who keeps beer in a freezer, it would literally freeze.

There's way too many scenes where characters are trying not to get murdered but still have time to have emotional heart to heart conversations. Example: at the end, one girl wants to go back inside the house to help another character who is fighting for her life against the villain, but the girl decides to have a heart to heart convo with her friend before going back inside to help the other character.

AND SPOILERS AFTER THIS:
[Show spoiler]But how old is the killer's mother supposed to be? The opening scene takes place 27 years prior. Let's just say the killer was a young 20 year-old then.. so he would've been 47+ now.. so his mother would easily be 67-70 and there's no way in hell a woman that old is doing what she's capable of at the end.

Overall, the film is dumb fun with characters that aren't as smart as the screenwriter thinks. It's best to watch it once and forget about it forever, which most of us will probably do.

Like the original, based off what everyone is saying this sounds like a good one to skip.

SyFy blurred it out, but I assume the eventual disc release won't?

I wanted to, but I didn't care for this. It's so obvious when they film something in Australia or South Africa and they pretend it's Los Angeles.
But the whole thing was just blah.

This was so bad, my god. The female cast is not attractive in the least and boy does this thing try too hard. There was no way this was going to be good coming from Syfy, how is it still in business anyway? But I didn't think it would be this bad, it's worse than the nightmare remake!

You really should get out more.

I've heard young people say all kinds of things, they don't all sound like they are from the disney channel's newest teen show or tiktok.

Lots of people especially teens drive old cars and in case you have been in a deep sleep or in upper income bliss people are worse off now than they were in 2000.

I've never seen anyone complain about bugs or other things that exist in nature in a film taking place in it before. Did it need to be there, no. Could they have done a different take, yes. Remove it via cgi, yes. Then again they could have hired better looking females!

You just described most who survive horror films especially newer ones. Let's see just recently made ones, the Halloween remakes, scream 2022 (hell barely anyone died), new texas chainsaw....

I will agree that the film was sh1t though.
