And the original Dolby Stereo track...?

Yeah, I agree with the latter bit -- since criticism is an inherently subjective business, some personal politics will get into it regardless. This isn't to say that some people can't lose track of the actual act of criticism within personal politics, or that the balance of criticism and personal politics can't skew too far in the direction of the latter, but I don't think the mere observation that things have aged poorly or look differently through a modern lens is a problem -- it's another thing to observe and think about, and if that thread is substantial or potentially interesting, then the critic/commentator should follow it.

It’s really not revisiting something thru a modern view that’s the issue, it’s how so much modern movie commentary seems to have become so politicised recently, I’d open a booklet from whoever and just couldn’t escape it. Perhaps it was more a Trump thing, that with the orange one in office people felt that they had to shout their own ideals from the rooftops (and thus overpower what it is they’re supposed to be talking about) just to counter the madness.

Default Before we mail out our Sneakers Blu-rays...

...do collectors have any preferences about the packaging their Blu-rays are sent in? We offer free postage which means we have to be very careful about the individual cost of each envelope, but what does everyone prefer? I guess different distributors use different materials, we've had fewer than 5 "damaged box" in over 1,000 completed orders, so I guess we're doing OK, but... if collectors have a declared preference we've love to honour it!

(We'll have answers for you on the other questions this week, by the way...)

I can't remember what my STHS arrived in but it was certainly OK. Generally, I prefer wrapover cardboard mailers (e.g. HMV style), followed by card envelopes (e.g. Rarewaves).

Most of the time Jiffy bags are OK but they're not much good at resisting the sort of squeeze pressure that can pop discs off their spindles, nor mashing at the corners. Jiffy bags aren't up to much on the recycling front either, of course, even if you're supposed to rip out the bubble wrap inner and recycle the paper outer. Those old style, plastic free, thick paper + 'paper fluff' liner type Jiffy bags seem to be a thing of the past.

Preferably a well padded jiffy bay for the protection of the slipcover. Not much you can do if the disc jumps off the spindle though... no collector enjoys that sound.

Thanks for asking.... It makes a change seeing a company doing a preemptive damage reduction survey.

Cardboard outside, maybe some bubble wrap on the inside.

That would be my preference for more fragile and more expensive editions, although in my experience, for standard releases with optional slipcases a simple jiffy bag or a cardboard mailer will do just fine most of the time. As someone who still has to use parcel forwarding rather often, I can say that there is such a thing as too much protection. While receiving items in oversized cardboard boxes filled with bubble wrap or foam always feels great, courier fees for shipping such oversized boxes can quickly add up.

By the way, Plumeria Pictures, is there any chance that you'll be removing the UK VAT for international orders? I looked into pre-ordering this, but having it delivered to Croatia would cost me £23.93, which is just outside of my comfort zone right now. I understand that there should be some changes coming with July 1st, but that might be too late for this release.

I'm finding reasonably often that those card mailers with the rip off strip invariably result in cracked cases. Prefer boxes or jiffy bags.

I ordered to America, so I will also send an email, as I have no idea if VAT was taken off.

I'm holding my breath in anticipation (although I'm also aware that studio wheels turn slowly, especially during a holiday weekend).

Is "8 Kean Street" a potential charge address for Plumeria? I have a mystery UK charge on my card that I can't figure out, and this is the only thing that would make sense, unless I've forgotten something.

Oh, I'm aware of that. My question was, since I cannot see the complete listing of everything in that office block, is that a place where it would be possible that Plumeria or Film Stories is billing from? Seems entirely reasonable that their office could be in that office block.

Aye, appears to be a fairly bog standard office. They might have their blu's shipped in and then posted out from there. Perfectly plausible or you could be over thinking it.

Should one just assume the A/V will be the same as previous releases? This isn’t a new scan or including “original audio”, is it?
