The small print on Amazon says it will only have the theater cut of part 1. Since the uncut was on a separate disc in the Scream box, I believe this. Unless they are making new discs, you should get the real 3D for 3 as it's just one disc in the box, and the newly found footage from part 2 at least.

They could easily strip the 3D out of the disc re-authoring one in 2D only and i have a feeling that is what they are going to do.

Seems likely as wouldn't Paramount have to create new discs to remove all the Scream Factory logos anyways? I'm pretty sure that's what Miramax did with the Producer's Cut of Halloween VI, which I'm pretty sure Scream Factory released first for their Halloween set.

Very easy pass in that case.

I guess Paramount did the 4K scans and provided them to Shout? I wonder if Shout was more or equally-not-involved with the 3D restoration as well. Not that I think Paramount would necessarily include it here if they did restore it all themselves.

Last fall, I paid $13.99 for this one.

At $76 for the new Paramount set, the Shout Factory set makes a lot more sense at only $40 more... unless you're desperate for the digital copies.

Welll this new one has an MSRP price of $76 just like the one you payed $14 for, and is usually set firm at $25, has an MSRP of $40.

I still guess this isn't going to launch higher than $60 and will probably be quick to settle at $50 for a while.

Too many numbers, I'm feeling dizzy.

Yeah I know, a huge price increase. Must be for the red case...

And for anyone that is interested in those digital copies - the same 8-film "package" goes on sale virtually every Halloween season and/or Friday the 13th for around $13 bucks.

I would imagine those first sets will be going OOP to make room for these new ones. Would be silly to have 2 in print that would look like identical content to the average Joe. Then everyone would just buy the old cheap one. There's probably enough oldies around that they might be on sale again this Halloween season, but this will probably be the last time for those.

Sorry if I wasn't clear - it's the digital copies that go on sale for $13 on many platforms - Vudu, XBOX, etc. - for $13 (or $13.13) every Halloween season and/or Friday the 13th. So if folks were getting the new set based on the digital copies being included - just wanted to specify that they regularly go on sale as a set pretty cheap on their own.

I agree, they will phase out the older set - though, I wonder how long that will take as it was so mass produced - I see it so often in the cheap bins of Blu's at retail. The market is pretty saturated with them.

Good point. That's really the only incentive to me to buy this set.

The only incentive I have to buy this set is if 5-8 look as good as they do on the Shout set. And in the case of 7 and 8 that could prove to be difficult. I need to be able to fit the Paramount 8 in my modified Friday the 13th steelbook.

Shout improved the color timing of Part 6 in their set, didn't they? I wonder which version will be in Paramount's set. Probably the old color timing with the murky greens.

The prices are always high when something is first announced. The closer it gets to release date it will drop in price.

Yeah, but it doesn't always drop as much as you hope.
