It's out of stock, so the 15% discount doesn't apply. It's also a limited edition and has been unavailable on Amazon for weeks, so no guarantee it's going to be back in stock either.

I feel the chances of an individual release are very good. There isn't much activity on here, but looking on eBay etc., with the number of Stripes posters and DVD/Blu-rays on sale, I think there is a good chance there will be a separate release very soon.

Ebay. People are already selling the movie from the set.

Must be totally out of stock now. When I do a search and click on the item, it says we couldn't find that product.

Nope. Still there: Columbia Classics Vol 2

It might be a region (or Prime member?) thing. I noticed a similar issue on another set with someone in another thread. Not trying to argue, but it seems to be happening more and more (as I've never encountered it until recently). Hopefully everyone can find a copy somewhere.

Not good... They didn't for the first set. Out of the US you can get singles though so maybe it'll follow suit.

From the images I've seen, they've left room for barcodes in their case designs. These will definitely see individual releases in the future, it's only a question of when.

Personally, I think the whole "Columbia Classics" thing has run its course, and we'll see these releases sooner rather than later. Why sell 8000 units when you can potentially sell tens of thousands of the more in-demand titles?

I used to watch Stripes all the time growing up. My mother always seemed to come in during that scene, and because of that scene she refuses to watch the film.

Something I never knew until recently... Donald Gibb, Ogre from Revenge of the Nerds, was an uncredited bouncer in that scene. Another of my favourite kids movies.

It's nice they're finally doing the release right for once.
That is actually the theatrical only Blu-ray. No branching, because no extended version.

Actually, I wouldn't mind if Sony released the newly mastered BD separately, even if they kept the UHD exclusive to the set. After all, it's the bloody 40th anniversary!

I don't get why there's such a delay between the boxset and the standalone releases.

I understand a month or two maybe, but beyond that they're just being a pain in the arse.

If you put out a desirable, limited boxset like this, collectors are gonna snap it up anyway. I highly doubt these sought after boxsets will be lingering at initial retail even if the standalones are available soon after.

My parents got cable installed around 1982. The company was Continental Cable if anyone remembers that one. But Stripes was airing all of the time on HBO and Showtime and I eventually videotaped it - I felt like I grew up around the movie too.

My aunt had HBO, so when we visited our grandparents, we’d always stay one night at her place and watch it. We always watched the R-rated late night stuff. You always knew there would be some nudity, lol.

"Well sir, we were on our way to the bingo parlor, at the YMCA...."

Comedy died when Candy passed in my opinion. Belushi, Candy, Farley, all too soon. Looking forward to when this comes out as a standalone release, probably early to mid 2022, I can do without the extended edition, theatrical cut is the only way to go.

Watched this as my 2nd movie from the Columbia V2 collection. I previous watched Anatomy of a Murder.

Well I didn't like the movie. For the most part I did not find it funny, and after about 40 minutes I had trouble continuing to pay attention and was on my phone giving it half attention. I think the last 20 minutes were an improvement though and I tuned back.

I was surprised. I was really curious about this one. I guess comedies don't really do it for me anymore. I liked Anatomy and the V1 movies except Lawrence.

The PQ did not impress me either. I don't know if it should have.

The special features were interesting. I watched about half of each one (the interviews, I only watched a few deleted scenes). I liked these more than the movie honestly.

This has the 1983 TV version of the movie on it as a special feature. I guess that's for people nostalgic for the version they saw on TV. It's 4:3 and the quality is not very good. As for differences, I looked it up and I guess some the the nudity has alternate cuts.

I, however, DID buy “all that” just for Stripes, because I figured what happened for Volume 1 would happen for Volume 2 and I had FOMO. I plan on giving the rest of the films in the set a chance, being a film snob is never ever necessary.

Then, this afternoon, I happened to see Volume 1 back on Amazon for $164.99 new. Jumped on that as well since I didn’t want my Columbia Classics collection to be incomplete or anything.
