When it comes to shot composition, it's probably one of the better recent Hitchcockian films. Heck, the
[Show spoiler]tub scene alone is excellent. Anyone with a fear of drowning likely can't watch it.

I remember seeing that stupid trailer in front of EVERY SINGLE MOVIE I saw that summer and refused to see it after being bombarded by it. I was later told that by seeing that trailer, I had already seen the movie.

I still haven't seen the actual movie.
You're missing out. There's twists that aren't revealed in the trailer, not to mention the beautiful atmosphere of Vermont in the summer and fall.

Haven't seen this since it was in theaters. Definitely excited for the release and most likely will Day one it.

"Adamant, that artsy little village down 7." I've seen this one more times than I care to think about.

Finally, very pleased this one is coming. Can finally retire the dvd (as long as it's not complete bare bones). Glad I didn't talk myself into getting the import for this one.

A solid 3 out of 4 star movie ruined by a trailer that gave way too much away. Haven't seen it since 2000, so I'll pick it up.

I want to not think this way, because I'm stoked this title is getting released, but goddamnit it is so irksome that there seems to be no rhyme or reason to which titles get the special treatment.

My main concern is that they'll slap a dated transfer on this release. The current streaming quality is very soft and shorn of details. This movie requires both a solid audio and video upgrade. Hope its not one of $10 half-assed releases ('Kaitie Elder' ??) that Paramount will call 'done' on BD

I don’t know much about this sort of thing so I could very easily be wrong, but I’m wondering if maybe part of the reason this isn’t a contender for the Presents line is because it was a Dreamworks production, and not a Paramount title? Of course there are many other reasons why it’s not included in that line.

I thought the same thing for a moment, but then I remembered that The Haunting was originally a DreamWorks film, but it came out through Paramount Presents.

The Haunting didn't get a 4K release. I mean, I guess it's a 4K scan, but it's a standard BD.

I was referring to The Haunting being a Presents release, which does mean it has a new 4k scan as you mention, vs What Lies Beneath which will apparently just have a standard release.

I imagine The Haunting got a more premium release, and treatment due in part to the popularity of The Haunting of Hill House.

Good point, could be. I honestly hadn't even thought of that.

The German Blu-ray looks pretty terrible in terms of transfer from the caps, but considering that was licensed from Fox, it might be the case that Paramount has access to a stronger master.

i love me some Robert Zemeckis but this movie was a bore, partly due to the script.
