I’m guessing Manhunter is a pretty sure bet, but I’d like to see them license Red Dragon from Universal as well. I wonder if they could even get Hannibal Rising which was never even released on Blu in the US.

Getting Red Dragon would at least complete the Hopkins trilogy.
Red Dragon is a very good possibility. Kino has already announced Hard Target which is also Universal property so they have an established business relationship.

Nearly bought the Criterion release a few times but ever since I held that cheap digipack in my hands at my friend's place, I've been put off by it. Glad I waited, plus bonus for Kino using the original poster arts for these new 4k releases, so much better than the new art Criterion and the likes keep putting out. Kino is on fire!

Gonna keep my SOTL Criterion Blu for the exclusive extras, wouldn't be the first time I've done that as I kept my Criterions of Parasite and Do the Right Thing even though I have the 4K UHDs of those as well.

Cool news. Wonder what the rights situation is between the various releases. Can Kino release UHD versions of other Criterion-licensed MGM titles now?

Hope we get Manhunter too!

Very much here for this! I'll be importing unless someone releases a UK edition around the same time.

Rights are confusing. There might be a clause where studios are allowed to grant you both blu-ray and 4K or either one.

Parasite is a good example. Universal did the 4K but Criterion did their own blu-ray. Maybe Universal saw the potential sales in the 4K with them VS licensing it out. Now that doesn't mean Criterion wasn't offered the 4K and they refused. Hard to say without confirmation from one of the parties involved.

People have been saying Mann is the biggest issue with Manhunter. Kino doesn't like working with him and doesn't have any plans to.

I actually thought this could be Criterion's first UHD release. But lol, guess that's what happens when you continue to sit on your butt and refuse to embrace a growing home video format.

Really glad Kino is putting this out. Damn their announcements have been absolutely killer lately.

Day one, obviously.

I was gonna post the same thing, it’s like Kino are trolling Shout and Criterion right now. It’s brilliant

Good thing it’s only $20 and not $200.
