Only a 3 day run of 3D...could that be a ticketing glitch?

I thought my theater was also only doing weekend showings but when I looked under purchasing advance tickets it gave me options for every day this coming week, including Discount Tuesday (Cinemark).

Probably the most lackluster 3D film I saw was MCU:Endgame. How does the 3D in Free Guy compare to that?

BTW, with Cinemark's private showing options, will they show a movie in 3d?

Realistically does this have any chance of being released on 3D blu? It’s fox right? I feel like they weren’t releasing 3D Blu-rays towards the end, and now they’re owned by Disney, who haven’t released a 3D blu since Onward I think

Our ONLY CHANCE now is to write to Disney!

Write to Disney Germany and tell them where are you from and that you would like to see a 3D Disc for the movie, planing to import it even from Amazon Germany:

hilfe@disney.de

This is not a Disney+ VIP one, so I think there should be a higher chance for proper physical media box sets with 4K, 3D, merchandise.
But we all have to write to Disney about the 3D Disc!

Excellent movie and 3d, again hampered by poor theater upkeep. Image was very purple, especially skin tones. Was also pretty blurry which hampered the 3d a bit, but probably can't do much better without a home version or stepping up to imax 3d or similar. Nothing but RealD 3d around me for this one...

Was this at a Cinemark?

I could understand the accounts of analog 3D projection being botched, but how can the digital stuff be so borked?

Most films, 2D or otherwise, that I see at Cinemark have a blur. I figured this was because they were either low res to begin with or 2D versions of 3D film, but Endgame and Alita had blur in 3d, now that I ponder it. Is it not supposed to be that way?

BTW, why did the 2D/3D hybrid bluray seemingly die out?

Considering they didn't bother with the last X-Men movie I'm not holding my breath on this one. The fact that Disney is really the owner here also isn't helping, considering how they seem to be bent on burning home 3D to the ground. Not sure how the international distribution is set up for this, maybe there's a more 3D friendly company involved in another market?

Thanks. Glad to hear you liked it and the 3D.

How would you say the 3D compared to a Marvel stronger 3D film?

That’s the first time I’ve heard someone refer to a recent MCU movie as having lacklustre 3D!

I think the hopes for this one on home 3D are abominable low sadly. Fox themselves haven’t released a 3D Blu-ray since 2019, and that was Alita, and there was some reasonable speculation James Cameron intervened to get them to include the 3D with the 4K.

Before that, as far as I’m aware, the last 3D Fox Blu-ray was War for the Planet of the Apes. And even before that, they had a nasty history of releasing films in 3D in the cinema and not on home 3D. Trolls and Captain Underpants came out before War and never got a home release. In fact, are Fox the worst about not giving us 3D blu-rays? Looking through their list of releases, I recognised a lot of fallen 3D soldiers.

So yeah, with their track record and the fact they’re owned by Disney now, my hopes are very low

The odds of this getting a 3D Blu-ray are lower than abominably low. Once the home releases are confirmed, this is almost certainly going to be a [No 3D Blu-ray] thread so if you can see the film theatrically in 3D, you really should.

It was a Regal, purple and blurry RealD. Jungle Cruise in a Cinemark was really good with Dbox. Black Widow before that was a Marquee Cinema (not sure if a chain) and that was pretty bad too. Dark and quite blurry.

Impossible to say as I have the Marvel films at home on my projector which are bright and sharp. Compared to Black Widow, which was as blurry in theater as Free Guy , I would guess as good or better 3d than that. I had to almost try to see the 3d, but i could tell it was there and quite good if I did.

Depends on how you look at it. From a consumer point of view, I whole-heartedly agree.

From a Bottonline view, the 3D Bluray sales are literally so small at this point that they will have practically zero impact on Disney’s financials so the decision is completely logical.

They need to have some calibration done, purple lips and skin tones means they have the wrong color settings on the 3D output. Very easy to fix on a Christie projector (if that is what they have).

Consumer, completely. 😉

If there's no 3D release, I wouldn't even want this, 4K or otherwise.

The scuttlebutt a few months back was that Disney did not have the luxury to leave money on the table.

Doesn't it only cost pennies to put the 3D bluray into the box? They're going to be doing it for James Cameron, so they might as well get into the habit now.

I shudder to mention this, but perhaps they could stream it on D+ in 3D?

If they made every bluray set like Alita, UHD;3D;2D, all in the same box, would that cover all the bases; are there people out there in significant numbers in the home video scene who buy blurays yet turn their nose up at any release with 3D?

An over the top lavish video game world without 3D would be a yuge waste, and wouldn't have my interesr either.

I don't think it would be as simple as Disney+ releasing /streaming it in 3D - I think you'd be looking at them updating the app first to support 3D before that could happen.

I wouldn't hold my breath, it took them a year to enable 4K and Dolby Vision on my 2016 LG SUHD TV, and the app was supposed to do that on launch.

The chances of Disney or any company adding 3D streaming to their apps in the current climate of 3D are zero. If 3D has a revival in a few years or decades then maybe, but right now they are not going to waste development money on a feature nobody is asking for. Even us 3D lovers want discs, not streams

Well I found another theater that will still be showing this in 3D on Wednesday, at a more reasonable time too. Hope to make it then.

No it costs quite a bit more than pennies

And with the amt of clout that James Cameron seems to annointed with seems to be approaching mythological realms. Maybe he should have played Thanos though I guess that would have turned it into a nonfiction movie (or was the storyline of Thanos Disney's shot across the bow to Cameron).
