I think the issue of NuWhoers on Classic Who discs is valid enough since it's been raised, as long as it doesn't devolve into a pissing contest.

Until I got the first McCoy set, I think I only ever caught one episode of his reign back in the day - and that was Paradise Towers (which is why I can't wait for the 2nd set to show up).

So I can't really comment. I do remember Mel's voice being like nails on a chalkboard though.

Finished listening to Doctor Who: The Ninth Doctor Adventures Volume 02. All in all the stories aren't as strong as Vol 1. Eccleston is still good though. I'd recommend buying individually 2.3 Planet of the End by Timothy X Atack.

Someone seems to have trouble following their own rules and doesn’t seem to grasp that Eccleston isn’t classic Doctor Who.

Non Chibby. Please take your unhappiness to the other thread.

Nice! I used to have this model of ViewMaster when I was a kid:

Also had a vintage one which I think was my Grandpa's...

Remember at least the newer models could also show 3D. Think that was my first introduction to 3D actually.

The original Doctor.

The Aztecs is my favourite First Doctor story.

For me, definitely Ace.

But for the record, I have no problems with Mel (unlike many fans it seems).

Both are ok. Would have like Peri to continue though.

I would have preferred Peri to have more of a run with Doc 5 than being stuck with Doc 6.

One of the nice things about Big Finish... lots of solo adventures with Doc 5 + Nyssa, and Doc 5 + Peri (and + Erimem)

Admittedly, Colin Baker has had better adventures via Big Finish. It would be interesting to have an Eccleston (pre Chibby Doctor) and Baker team up.

Very true. Colin rocks his audios. Such a shame he didn't get the proper chance on screen.

I think the worst thing with Peri on the show was just dumping her on Brian Blessed, truly a fate worse than death. Still, at least they avoided the temptation to have him scream "Peri's ALLLLLIIIIIIIIVVVVVVVVEEEEEE!"

Agreed. The last member of the TARDIS wives' club, joining Susan, Vicki, Jo, and Leela.

Too bad they caved to public outcry and retconned Peri's fate that way. I just choose to ignore it.

I never felt the falling in love over the span of a single serial was believable, but then I'm looking at it from a practical standpoint. You have to consider 1)what if things don't work out with your new interest later on, because 2) once the Tardis goes, you are stuck in that time (and maybe even place).

Vicki took the biggest chance. Going from the 25th century to the 11-12th. Think of the quality of life, especially in regards to medical and tech levels as you grow older (assuming you don't get taken out early by a disease, injury, etc that the science and medicine of THAT time can't deal with). Then living without all of the amenities and things you used to have in the 25th? If they break up, or he dies an early death, she is seriously stuck.

At least Jo was back on Earth and in her own time. Leela was on Gallifrey, but in a more advanced society... and if things didn't work out she could always get dropped off anywhere and anywhen with a Tardis.

Of course, all that would be moot if the Doc did what he should and check up on them later on, or a Tardis pager to use if they ever wanted to leave.

The only classic Who companions I really liked were Sarah Jane and Romana.

Sarah Jane because honestly I had a huge crush on her growing up, and Romana because she had such obvious chemistry with Tom Baker.

As for the other classic companions they had their pros and cons, but on the whole I'm fairly ambivalent about them.

My companions were the brainiacs and the ass kickers.

Sara K, Jamie, Zoe, The Brig, Liz, Leela, Romana, Nyssa, and Ace.
