Was just by Disney’s own flagship theater in Hollywood, the El Capitan, and they are only showing Encanto in lousy 2D. That’s BEYOND pathetic. Why did they even make this movie in 3D only to have it hardly shown?

Managed to get watch Encanto in 3D before it was yanked from the only local theater showing it, there were only about 5 people for that show and the screen brightness was, at most, about 70% of what it ought to have been to make it look good.

I agree with the earlier post in regards to there being no real "wow" moments in this one and I think the movie was not conceived with any particular interest in having great 3D moments. In some ways, the short that precedes the movie has better 3D effects, with a lot more depth, than the actual feature. (Interestingly, the short and the feature are in different aspect ratios).

I won't be watching any more 3D movies in theaters until SMNWH, which I will be watching in 4DX... judging by the trailer, the effects ought to be amazing!!

After that, if they show Sing 2 in 3D, I may be able to watch it again, it's a pretty decent movie.

El Cap doesn't screen anything in 3D except for the extremely mild post-conversion of Nightmare Before Christmas, every Halloween.

Make sure 4DX is 3D 4DX and not 2D 4DX.

Yes, as mentioned in the post, I will be watching in 3D - wouldn't even have mentioned SMNWH in this thread if I wasn't going to watch in 3D

BluBonnet:
If you didn't see any 3D showpiece moments maybe you looked away at the part with the chasm, the second part when she falls near it. It's brief, but it's a shock moment that emphasizes the deepness of it and how she was almost over the edge.
P.S. the broken tablet with the vision also works well with 3D. Glowing in green like it is, it looks like a hologram. Plus the usual suspects like particle effects such as magic candle sparks and flowers

Yeah, no.

Those moments didn't look as impressive as I'd hoped they would

Like I said, BEYOND pathetic. If they're equipped for 3D then why don't they USE it? If Disney owns the theater and wants it to be their premiere venue, why wouldn't they show it in the best possible quality? I'm not going to watch this in 2D even for free.

Holding out a slither of hope for a MovieNEX 3D release like Wreck It Ralph 2. If there's no 3D release for this anywhere, I'll just watch it on Disney+. Disney are losing out on $30-80 for a 3D disc, seems silly to me lol

Nope, Disney started doing this to make it clear that they both knew there was a large demand for 3D in Germany and had no interest in catering to it. These exact same Disney DE special edition boxes with the art cards always came with the 3D release until Raya I believe. Then they started putting ‘2D’ on the box where the ‘3D’ used to be, as if to say ‘we know you want it, but you can’t have it’ lol

É exactly that. There's no other reason. My ANGER at Disney has only increased since the day they stopped releasing physical media in Latin America!!

Didn't seem like it to me.

Still seems weird that the house is designed with all this depth yet the presentation is flat. Dey be trollin' us

What's also weird is how the flowers on the house look high res and realistic but the woman in the front is super stylized (the big white eyes remind me of the gingerbread man ). When can we finally get Western CGI where the characters are as realistic as the backgrounds?

Looks like we can only rely on Japan for MCU 3D Blu-rays. Disney/Pixar 3D Blu-ray is dead.

They even put ‘2D Blu-ray’ in the description of their product. It’s like they know it’s in 3D, they know MovieNEX buyers want it, and aren’t willing to offer it anyway. Ridiculous.
