I'm still shocked at what they did to the end of Hush.

And this is why I have to ask, didn't waste my time on Hush or Red Son, no point.

It stays pretty close to the source material. Some story bits have been combined and some characters have been left out, but nothing as jarring as Hush. The overall story is the same and they kept a lot of the details from the graphic novel.

I personally loved hearing Solomon Grundy say his nursery rhyme in his scene. That always creeped me out in the graphic novel.

I rather enjoyed Red Son, however, I've not read the source material so can't speak as to how much it may differ.

The atrocity that is Hush is the reason I'm waiting to hear reviews on this from people that have read The Long Halloween.

At this point isn’t it basically the same price for WBHM to create a 4K disc at about the same price as a Blu-Ray? Forgive my ignorance, I am in Film School and do consulting on the big picture releases and features, I don’t work at all or know how WBHV works.

I doubt authoring and disc production cost is the reason they didn't put out Part 1 in 4K. They just don't want to have to deal with all the unwanted inventory once the complete version is out. Also, how would they go about pricing the complete version if they also had to put out a Part 2 for those who bought the first one?

Watched and liked it but not sure that I want to buy this. I guess I need to see how part 2 goes first.

Part 2 was pretty good. I know it's on Blu-ray but I'll wait for the UHD since I don't think I need to see it again anytime soon.

Looks great but it was hard to finish..... I like the story but felt the execution was less than optimal.

Warner Bros Batman: The Long Halloween Deluxe Edition 4K UHD (2021)

Batman: The Long Halloween 4K Blu-ray

Release date: September 20th, 2022.

Quote:
COMING TO DIGITAL & BLU-RAY™ ON JUNE 22, 2021
JENSEN ACKLES, NAYA RIVERA, JOSH DUHAMEL,
BILLY BURKE, DAVID DASTMALCHIAN, TITUS WELLIVER LEAD ALL-STAR CAST IN LATEST DC UNIVERSE MOVIES OFFERING
Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One will be available on Blu-ray as well as on Digital. The Blu-ray features a Blu-ray disc with the film in hi-definition and a digital version of the movie. Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One will be available on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack at a later date in 2022 as a combined presentation of the film with Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two.

Inspired by the iconic mid-1990s DC story from Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One begins as a brutal murder on Halloween prompts Gotham’s young vigilante, the Batman, to form a pact with the city’s only two uncorrupt lawmen (Police Captain James Gordan and District Attorney Harvey Dent) in order to take down The Roman, head of the notorious and powerful Falcone Crime Family. But when more deaths occur on Thanksgiving and Christmas, it becomes clear that, instead of ordinary gang violence, they’re also dealing with a serial killer – the identity of whom, with each conflicting clue, grows harder to discern. Few cases have ever tested the wits of the World’s Greatest Detective like the mystery behind the Holiday Killer.

Lauded for his performance as Red Hood/Jason Todd in 2010’s Batman Under the Red Hood, Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, Smallville) returns to the DC Universe Movies as the title character of Batman/Bruce Wayne. The late Naya Rivera (Glee), who passed away in 2020, gives one of her final performances as Catwoman/Selina Kyle. The all-star cast includes Josh Duhamel (Transformers, Las Vegas) as Harvey Dent, Billy Burke (Twilight, Revolution, Zoo) as James Gordon, Titus Welliver (Bosch, Deadwood, The Town) as Carmine Falcone, David Dastmalchian (The Suicide Squad, Ant-Man, Dune, The Dark Knight) as Calendar Man, Troy Baker (The Last of Us, Batman: Arkham Knight) as Joker, Amy Landecker (Your Honor, Transparent) as Barbara Gordon, Julie Nathanson (Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay) as Gilda Dent, Jack Quaid (The Boys, The Hunger Games) as Alberto, Fred Tatasciore (American Dad!, Family Guy) as Solomon Grundy and Alastair Duncan (The Batman, Batman Unlimited franchise) as Alfred. Additional voices provided by Frances Callier, Greg Chun, Gary Leroi Gray and Jim Pirri.

Chris Palmer (Superman: Man of Tomorrow) directs Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One from a screenplay by Tim Sheridan (Reign of the Supermen, Superman: Man of Tomorrow). Producers are Jim Krieg (Batman: Gotham by Gaslight) and Kimberly S. Moreau (Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). Butch Lukic (Justice Society: World War II, Superman: Man of Tomorrow) is Supervising Producer. Executive Producer is Michael Uslan. Sam Register is Executive Producer.

Keep meaning to give this one a watch. If I like it enough, I’ll definitely get the 4K.

All the articles I've read have said "Winter 2022," which probably means December of next year.

That blows, all we can do is hope they mean January or February, but that's unlikely

I have most if not all of the Batman animated movies on bluray, save for Mask/Phantasm, but is it really a worthwhile upgrade to go to 4K for animated movies?? I'm assuming the colors upgrade is the biggest factor...? I've been ignorant to upgrade to 4K, save for the Akira 4K (which is another topic altogether).

Bluray.com review of the blu ray said harsh banding and artifacts all but ruin a number of scenes, and they seem to get worse as the film progresses. They think these problems will be taken care of when the 4k blu ray comes out.
