How they could combine the first 2 games with no giant snakes or alligators or man-eating plants makes me sad. I loved how true the games this was, loved the overall look, but everything else fell flat. I'll be giving it another shot with that steelbook though. Hoping there's some giant creature deleted scenes.

True, not having the killer plants was a misfire. I remember those huge botany rooms were creepy in the OG game.

I wish they'd spent more time in the secret underground lab during 3rd act. There they could have shown some cool bio weapons from the game in some form at least. In the final cut, it seems like the lab consists only of that one small room lol.

I still remember how hyped I was in RE2 when you unlock that underground lab weapons room and got the full auto rifle.

Don’t forget those giant tarantulas and sharks. I also wanted just one live action RE adaptation to feature a Hunter; they’re so prominent in the early games and terrifying. Unfortunately budget reasons were likely the case here.

Just goes to show people will never be happy with resident evil movies. Too many differing opinions on what they should and need to be. This one followed the games very closely and still its rejected. Retribution and Final Chapter being high budgeted B movie masterpieces and people still complain. There's no way to adapt these with how diverse the franchise has become and appease polarized dorks.

I didn't mean anyone specifically, more the horrendous BO receipt and every resi youtuber clutching their pearls about minor plot rearrangement. I like sphere hunter for instance but found the bashing fruitless.

I definitely think video games adaptations fall under more scrutiny than other IPs. I've seen plenty of Resi fans whinge about Welcome to Raccoon City because it's not a 1:1 adaptation, but... it's a film? It was never gonna be a carbon copy. It's still a lot closer to the source material than the Alice saga.

I understand not being happy with Leon being some sleepy half witted stoner but the plots were near identical to the source, which weren't exactly Tolkien level plotting. I don't know what the big deal is, 25 million is really low these days to make a movie, I had a good time with it and I'm obsessed with the franchise. Claire was really well done!

If it was you could just go back to play the games instead. I am happy with WTRC.

Agreed. I still think it would have been the smarter move to not combine the first two games into this movie and spent most of the time in the mansion with a big horror vibe but overall I enjoyed the movie.

One thing that was a pleasant surprise was
[Show spoiler]they used the Tyrant...and both forms.
That was really cool.

You want a laugh go to the SHH forums and go into the threads for this movie and the new Mortal Kombat. Good lord....

I loved Resident Evil Welcome To Raccoon City flaws and all. Was a really fun atmospheric ride. And I thought it looked terrific as from a visual standpoint imo. I agree that the Final Chapter is one of my favorite RE movies too.

For that price, it better include a complimentary T-virus vaccine.

Wasn’t able to check this out in theaters. Will definitely get the 4K. Keeping my expectations in check though. The characters and story in the games are nothing groundbreaking. What really makes RE good is the atmosphere, suspense and cheesy/campiness of the horror. It’s an interesting combination. Anyway, fingers crossed this is decent.

I also just finished re-playing RE2 remake for like the 5th time and I can’t get over how good it is.
